The vision of the 1980s personal computing revolution was power to the people because they can produce the software tools they want. But, programming and spreadsheeting is hard so only for hobbyist and big business.

With AI, the coding barrier is coming down - at least for basic tools. Home hardware can run AI sophisticated enough to build custom tools.

A world of low-friction personal and small business productivity can be unlocked. Therefore, AI is one more step towards realising the dream of the 1980s personal computer revolution.
