End of April

Lilac Blossom

I had to google that. I never came across the word lilac. ...very common around here. (We call it Flieder) Smells even better than it looks.

Jobs done

  • planting potatoes
  • planting corn
  • weeding
  • mowing (again)

the usual stuff...

Anyways

I think I have finally fixed the wood chipper. I actually found an old rusty M20 nut, sawed some of it off and it fits.

Hackjob

I also had to drill a hole in the thing, just so I can stick something in there, so that I can actually tighten the bolt, without turning the whole driveshaft with it.

I butchered half the piece trying to drill into it. I could not get the drill any closer and had to drill at an angle and the thing kept spinning until I strapped it with cable ties.

Cringe.

test run

I put it all together and fired up the engine and the clutch engaged. Great success!

Observing this happen for the first time, I'd say: the clutch engaged from the first moment, instantly. Makes me wonder, how important it really is...

Help

I still need a new belt and the nut is still a little too thick, so I have to take it all apart again. Then, putting it back together properly, I need a second pair of hands, because I can't pull the engine block to tension the belt and tighten the screws for it at the same time.

What a hassle...

Since you need a second pair of hand with the machine, don't it possible for the neighbours to help or something?
