There’s always a film lasting over three hours waiting for us there, but this time it was already late. We saw Nicolas Cage on the poster and decided to give it a go.

Synopsis :
A pandemic has ravaged a large part of the population. People are doing whatever they can to survive.
Paul lives on an abandoned farm with his two sons. During the day, they work outside, but as soon as night falls, they lock themselves inside.
After dark, “monsters” emerge from their lairs and attack other living creatures.
During the day, Thomas spends time at the Roses' estate, where he lends a helping hand in the hope of catching the eye of their daughter, Charlotte.
The Roses have managed to keep the “monsters” away from their home and are living relatively comfortably.
Thomas's brother Joseph is more of the brains behind the operation. He observes, thinks, creates, experiments and takes notes to find ways to improve their chances of survival.
How long can they keep going like this, constantly on edge, afraid of being separated, terrified of closing their eyes, and dreading the possibility of never seeing each other again?

Paul vit dans une ferme abandonnée avec ses 2 fils. En journée, ils travaillent à l'extérieur, mais dès que le soir tombe, ils s'enferment. A l'extérieur, la nuit, des "monstres" sortent de leurs tanières et agressent les autres créatures vivantes.
Thomas, en journée, fréquente le domaine des Roses, où il donne un coup de main, dans l'espoir d'attirer l'attention de leur fille, Charlotte. Les Roses parviennent à tenir les "monstres" loin de chez eux et vivent relativement bien.
Joseph, le frère de Thomas, est plutôt le cerveau. Il observe, il réfléchit, il crée, il expérimente et il prend des notes pour améliorer.
Combien de temps peut-on tenir ainsi, constamment sur le qui-vive, avec la peur de se séparer, la frousse de fermer l'œil, la crainte de ne plus se revoir ?

I didn’t like this film : it was far too dark. It makes you wonder why Nicolas Cage agreed to star in it.
At least we’ve seen it, but I’m not sure I’ll remember it for long.
Je n'ai pas aimé ce film, beaucoup trop sombre. A se demander pourquoi Nicolas Cage a accepté d'y jouer.
Au moins, on l'aura vu, mais je ne suis pas certaine de m'en souvenir longtemps.

Sadie Soverall played Beatrix in the Winx series.
