Happy Nineties Friday! Well happy Thursday since I’m posting early 🤣. This week I’m taking a break from my producer spotlight series as I don’t feel like doing hour plus of research on who producer what record and all that. This week I’m picking 4 tuned that all come from major label nineties released albums, that didn’t go big mainstream success wise, so you likely won’t know most of em. Two are from the pop punk vibe like Green Day , Offspring & Blink kinda style. The other two would have been into alternative rock radio but they never got much play even though they had the big record deal. Enjoy!
Oh for my two Bonus picks I’m picking the same thing, but in these two cases the bands had mainstream success & multiple hits years later in the 2000’s. In one case 6 plus years later with Switchfoot, the other is Jimmy Eat World and a song from there 1996 debut, the band would find success in 2001 with the release of album number 3 five years later.
Band - Samiam Song - Capsized Album - Clumsy (1994)
Band - MxPx Song - Under Lock & Key Album - Slowly Going The Way Of The Buffalo (1998)
Band - Jawbreaker Song - Chemistry Album - Dear You (1995)
Band - Mest Song - Drawing Board Album - Wasting Time (1999)
Both Bonus tunes below also didn’t see any mainstream success, but both bands would find it on their third albums in the 2000’s. Enjoy!
Band - Switchfoot Song - Concrete Girl Album - The Legend of Chin (1997)
Band - Jimmy Eat World Song - Call It In The Air Album - Static Prevails (1996)
Thanks for dropping by!
