If you read what I write here or elsewhere, you are not doubt aware of the fact that I really like dogs. As it turns out this is something that my entire family feels the same about. There are six members of my family, and with me having only 1 dog, I am tied for the "least amount of dogs" out of all my family members.
The rest of them seem to be trying to build a miniature K9 zoo of sorts and that is just fine by me.
This is Bella. Bella was one of the first additions to the Mexico dog family as her and her buddy Coco were homeless dogs that were being given food by local people but nobody had taken them in. Bella is a sweetheart and is the biggest of the bunch. Bella also has a somewhat crazy fascination with shadows and reflections that makes taking a photo of her very difficult.
You have to catch Bella by surprise because the glass covering your lens on your camera will drive her to chase whatever little light is reflecting off of it. Nearly every photo I have of her is out of focus or taken from a position that she was unaware I was there.
on the chair there we have Coco. Coco is the most chill of the bunch and is the only one that doesn't really want to participate in any sort of shenanigans and playing that all the other dogs get involved in. In this regard she is most like Nadi. Actually I think that Nadi is the only one of these dogs that Nadi would get along with. The rest of them are just too wild acting.
Here you can see Coco walking away from a fracas involving a toy. She wants no part in it.
Coco does love scritches though, and she will seek out affection more than she will playing or even food. She is a sweetheart.
Next we have Karli. Karli is the only dog at my parents house that is allowed inside and she rules the roost. Karli is a very good dog. She never tears anything up and from what I hear she never has. I guess my parents got lucky the same way that I did when I got Nadi. Karli is kind of the boss of the estate and if there is ever a minor conflict over a bone or toy the other dogs capitulate to her, even Bella who is 5 times her size. I think the dogs must talk to one another and Karli is the queen because she is allowed indoors. The outdoors dogs Bella and Coco, never try to follow Karli indoors. They know they are not allowed.
Over here we have Wyatt and Rio and Rio is also known as "stinky" because he somehow developed an affinity to eating cat poop. These are my siblings dogs. Then there is the newest addition to the dog family named Fiona.
Fiona is a yappy little S**t and is afraid of almost everything. Initially she was not allowed in the house but she wouldn't stop stalking us through the windows so we just let her in and kept a close eye on her. She kind of gets along with the other dogs. Nobody picks on anyone, nobody hurts anyone else. But Fiona, I think largely because my sister in law babies her, Fiona mostly just wants to sit on her lap all the time. I don't think this is a good way to raise a dog and I think she already has behavior issues because of it.
In a couple of days another sibling of mine is arriving and she is bringing 2 of her 4 dogs with her, both of which are chihuahua mixed breeds and are very chill and VERY attached to my family member. Those two will not let my sister out of their sight and if they have to they get a bit stressed out. I find that endearing. They don't raise the roof with barking or anything, they just stare into the distance until my sister comes back.
I want to point out that every single one of these dogs, including Nadi who would be very jealous if she knew what I was up to, are rescue dogs. My family believes very much in adopting dogs and not purchasing them. There are so many loving dogs in the world who don't have a home so it just seems irresponsible and a bit mean to us to buy a "designer dog" instead of just helping ones that need a home. It has also been my experience that mixed breed dogs are "smarter" and easier to train than inbred pure-breed dogs.
