This post is a direct follow-up to the last hiking post of the Polish Tatra Mountains Hiking up to Nosal - Southern Poland. After the Nosal summit, we decided to hike further even though we had very bad weather in the mountains.
We had some plans to summit Mały Kościelec mountain, but due to the weather, it made no sense at all, so we canceled it and hiked to the valley before this mountain just to see the views.
Here are some views along the trail we were hiking.
Higher mountaintops were mostly in the clouds, and we often didn't see the whole view, still beautiful though.
While we were hiking, at some point we got a really strong rainstorm that lasted for a pretty long while. I didn't use my camera that much because of this. My hiking bag was covered with a rain protection layer, so getting out my camera was a task I didn't want to do that often. It was a lot easier to take some photos with a phone, so here are a couple of those I took along the trail. When the conditions were a bit better at points.
After about an hour and a half, we made it to the valley. We were fortunate that it was not raining anymore, just cloudy. Here I got some quality shots again. It got very peaceful there, and there was almost no wind as well. The pointy mountaintop you see in the photo below was originally the point we wanted to climb on this hike. The elevation in this point was around 1500m over sea level.
Overall, the trail was spectacular. The views we were able to see were extremely beautiful. Bad weather is not all doom, fortunately. Cloud play in the mountains can also create many photogenic scenarios, and this gloomy vibe is sometimes good to have.
Fortunately, this was the only rainy day we had in the mountains, and the next several days were great in terms of visibility and sunshine. Stay tuned for more great hikes and higher altitudes.
