When I hear the calling of the cranes in autumn, I immediately run out onto the balcony and scan the sky for them. Sometimes they arrive in massive flocks and ride the thermals high above my place to gain altitude for their long journey. It's always deeply moving to witness this, and I find myself dreaming of joining them and flying away. Today I managed to fly with them a little - it was amazing!
I Flew With the Cranes

In Canada, I watched the Canadian Geese fly south. But what is particularly interesting, because they do not get associated with the Northern climate, are Pelicans! I took pictures of pelicans fishing below the weir on the Oldman River in Lethbridge. BTW, in Wood buffalo Park, in Northern Alberta, is the only nesting ground for a rare species of cranes in North America, the Whooping Cranes.
