Random ahh sketches

Hello! Dayum, I've focused so much on streaming that I forgot to draw. In the recent months, I've been learning the other skill which I think would be useful in my life later on: socializing and talking (streaming). It's been going really good, but I also want to build a habit of drawing literally anything just so I can do this like breathing.

So whenever I have a free time, like watching a movie with @acidyo, instead of focusing my attention on the movie and sit down there I also draw on my sketch pad. I also have a very unstable but portable table so I can draw on the couch haha so that was a nice thing to have.

I have a lot of sketchbooks as previously mentioned lol so this one is a "don't overthink it" sketchbook. I just draw whatever I find interesting on the internet or TV, with no worries of posting or doing it for content.

On the first photo above, I found random pictures on Pinterest and experiment with colors as well. I want to improve my sketching so I am committing to drawing everyday even if it takes 5 minutes.

On the left is a Daenarys Targaryen reference that I did for 5 minutes or so with a colored pencil. We started watching Game of Thrones recently. Having that quick face sketch is a motivator for me to draw faces again lol cos it's not too accurate.

On the right were portraits I drew while following along Emily Hughes Art on Youtube. Watching someone draw on the screen also makes me want to draw too.

Here are drawings with pen. This exercise is more for developing my intuition with drawing and proportions. Drawing with a pen pressures me to just "do it" and not overthink the details and such, to focus more on the form and overall look because there are no erasures. I love this exercise because it makes me really look at the lines and commit to it, without the pressure of the result.

And one of the fun drawings that I did was this Royal grape can. I drew it from life with colored pencils. This took me maybe 4 sittings to finish as I would just continue when I got time so instead of being on my phone while waiting for something, I just draw this quick.

These were many layers of colored pencil so it's not one dimensional or something. I also didn't have an eraser nearby so I didn't use any.

The reflections were also not consistent lol cos I drew in many sittings so that's why. I like it though and it's just a chill drawing.

I don't think I've really done this type of sketching in a long time because I have always overthink it. Even in sketchbooks I became quite a perfectionist, like I want to organize them and curate what goes in the sketchbook but that really is not fun at all. I'm sure some of you artists understand what I'm saying lol, so this is my way of easing myself to draw ugly or just draw for fun.

Hello 👋 @hiddenblade, long time no see you on Hive.

Seeing your post reminds me that you have so much talent—wherever you go, you share a little piece of your unique and wonderful art. A while ago I bought some Prismacolors to start painting again, just little things—not like you, since you're a professional, but something at least jjjjj—though I haven't been able to get to it yet...

I always appreciate your painting posts, and your own imaginative expressions. Greetings and happy Wednesday to you!! 😊☺️🙏

oh i understand the perfectionist in sketchbook thing... i don't want to draw something that is not as good as it "spoils the page" its a hard one to get out of. i tried many sketchbooks for that... but alas. it never worked well. LOVE the colours in the drawing. i then tried ripping out good bits and sticking them in another book. but that didn't work as i didn't like how that looked.

    anyway enjoy the art, blingit

  • The bird in the first photo and the drink in the last photos are my favorites.

instead of focusing my attention on the movie and sit down there I also draw on my sketch pad.

I also often have tv as a backround. Not really practical and wastes electricity but I have hard time getting rid of this habit.
