After the tropical heat and legendary downpours of HiveFest: Tropical Surge in Kuala Lumpur, we’ve dried our shirts and recharged our batteries. We’ve been navigating the crevasses of the market, but now it’s time to look up and ahead. For its eleventh edition, HiveFest returns to European soil, landing in the city of architects, dreamers, and revolutionaries.

Get ready for HiveFest XI: 17 – 20 September 2026 in Barcelona!

🏙️ From Gaudi’s Masterworks to the Mediterranean Shore

Barcelona isn't just a city; it’s an architectural masterpiece. From the mind-bending spires of Gaudí’s Sagrada Família to the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter, inspiration is baked into the very stones of the city.

And yes, we heard you: there is a beach included. Expect mid-September temperatures to be that perfect Mediterranean sweet spot—warm enough for a rooftop drink or a dip in the sea, but cool enough to actually get some "architecting of decentralization" done.

⛓️ The Grand Scheme: HiveFest x ChainCulture

As beta-tested last year, again implementing the shaken up format. This year, we are officially merging the HiveFest experience with a dedicated ChainCulture day. A trojan horse to promote Hive across chains, broaden the family of Hivians!

While Hive(Fest) remains our home base, ChainCulture opens the doors to builders and thinkers from the broader Web3 ecosystem. It’s about cross-chain connections, inflecting new collaborations, and proving that while we love our chain, we are all here to chainge the world. Ofcourse HiveFest itself sticks to the 4-5 days of activities beyond the conference track. Socializers, parties and city exploring with fellow Hive friends and a Hive dedicated workshops and roundtable program too.

🗓️ The Itinerary

The town will already be buzzing. On September 16-17, the European Blockchain Convention takes place in the large halls south of the city, bringing the global financial ecosystem to town to get their bite of the digital money flowing through chains nowadays. We’re picking up that momentum and carrying it into the weekend:

Thursday, 17 Sept: Arrival & Opening Drinks. Reconnect with the Hivers you haven't seen in a year!
Friday, 18 Sept: The Big Conference Day. Featuring two parallel tracks: ChainCulture (cross-chain/external) and a Hive-dedicated track.
Saturday, 19 Sept: In-depth Hive sessions, hands-on workshops, and a free night to explore the vibrant Catalan nightlife.
Sunday, 20 Sept: City sightseeing (get your cameras ready for those Gaudi vibes) and the traditional Closing Dinner.

Hola, no he ido antes a un Hive Fest. No sé cuál es la dinámica, pero para el evento de Alicante, había que pagar para participar. Aquí no veo información al respecto. Si aún estoy a tiempo de participar. ¿Cuál es el costo para inscribirme y a quien debo enviar el pago? He visto en otro post que se habla de un alojamiento económico, ¿quién me puede dar información al respecto? No veo claro el lugar donde se va a llevar a cabo el evento. Si me toca pagar el alojamiento es muy importante que yo separa el lugar para alojarme cerca, si me es posible. Por favor necesito información más precisa y de ser posible en español. ¿Puede ser?

Wow, I need to start planning to attend. This is my eighth year on Steemit/HIve and I hope that when I atend HIve Spain I can do a presentation on my latest project. I have built two finacial projects on Hive and ran them for teo years. I am now trying to launch my biggest project yet, a HIve Bank. I think everything I have done before is preparing me for this next step. The funny thing is that I believed I was launching a bank / credit debt facility with a ground breaking concept, no liquidations, we believe in the future of the token so we never sell, but make it possible for people to get low cost loans on the token to support their lives and create scarcity. Then I watched Bitcoin 2026 and saw Jack Mallars announce no more liquidations for his bitcoin lending product. I was seized by the thought that good ideas don't stay in your head. You either execute them or someone else will to your chagrin. SO I hope you will support my proposal before DHF right now. Here is more about it.

I wrote a proposal for a Hive Community Bank capitolized by the DHF but belonging to the community. #374. The strongest points are that HCB gives HIVE holders liquidity without forcing them to sell, which preserves long-term upside, may avoid immediate taxable sale events, and protects borrowers from flash-crash liquidations by using yearly reviews instead of twitchy real-time oracle triggers. The model is also easy to understand: borrow up to 50% of collateral value, keep the HIVE powered up in custody, pay a clear upfront fee plus low annual cost, and let borrowers repay later while keeping any future appreciation. Its best selling point is psychological as much as financial: it turns HIVE from “an asset I must sell when I need cash” into “productive collateral I can hold through cycles.”

Darn... double blow this year for me... unsure if I'm even able to go to the USA in November for work, nor this one.

Would really love to go and take the family to Portugal for a visit to family, but this year is financially impossible to support such a thing from my own pocket. And I don't feel like hurting the Hive ecosystem in order to support my travel yet, unless HIVE prices go nuts in the next 3 months.

I will miss a lot of amazing people I haven't met yet, and catching up with some others I have already had the luck to meet. I will be supporting the people there while you are having some fun.

Hopefully, I can bring the other HIVE API node before you guys go. And that means HA API from New Zealand, which is still my aim!
