There are bands that change over time, adapting every day to the new generation and to modern trends, just as there are bands that, due to circumstances beyond their control, lose their lead singer and have to reinvent themselves—this is the case with Linkin Park.

Hay grupos que con el tiempo van cambiando, adaptándose cada día a la nueva generación, a lo moderno, así como también, hay grupos donde por circunstancias ajenas, pierden a su vocalista, y les toca reinventarse, este es el caso de Linkin Park.

Linkin Park is an American rock and metal band formed in 1996. Since then, it has been well-received, and its songs have brought it great popularity—tracks such as “One Step Closer”, ‘Faint’, “New Divide”, “Numb”, and “In The End” have been huge hits; even today, they still sound as fresh as they did the first time. However, in 2017, the band suffered a major blow with the death of its lead singer, Chester Bennington.

Following this loss, the band held several memorial events and released a greatest-hits album in honor of Chester. They were on hiatus for several years until 2024, when the band publicly announced their new lead singer, Emily Armstrong—undoubtedly a radical change. We’ve gone from listening to Chester’s voice to listening to this woman’s on their biggest hits, I confess that when I first heard her, it felt different. At first, I didn’t like it very much, but over time, as I’ve listened to the songs more, I’m starting to get used to it. I imagine that, like me, many of us found it hard to listen to the band again—to hear them play the songs that defined our youth—with a different vocalist. But I told myself, these are changes that some bands go through.

Linkin Park es una banda musical estadounidense de rock y metal, creada en el año 1996, desde entonces ha tenido una buena aceptación, sus canciones le dieron mucha popularidad, temas como "One Step Closer", "Faint", "New Divide", "Numb" e "In The End" han sido todo un éxito, hoy en día siguen sonando como la primera vez, sin embargo, en el año 2017 la banda sufrió un gran golpe, al morir su cantante principal Chester Bennington.

Tras esta perdida, la banda realizo varios conmemorativos, también lanzaron un album de todos sus éxitos en reconocimiento a Chester, estuvieron en pausa por varios años, hasta que en el 2024 la banda anuncia públicamente a su nueva vocalista Emily Armstrong, sin duda un cambio radical, pasamos a escuchar la voz de Chester a escuchar a esta mujer, en sus temas de mayor éxito, confieso que cuando la escuche por primera vez, lo sentí diferente, al principio no me gustó mucho, pero ya con el tiempo, y a medida que coloco los temas, ya me estoy adaptando, y me imagino que así como yo, a muchos nos costó, volver a escuchar a la banda, tocar sus canciones, esas marcaron nuestra juventud, mediante otro vocalista, pero dije, son cambios que sufren algunas bandas.

This particular song was the first one I heard with the new lead singer, In the End. I remember it because that’s when I found out she’d joined the band—I came across it on social media, or I think I saw it in someone’s status update; I’m not sure, but yes, it was this song, and I thought, “It sounds so different,” still, she has a good voice—you can’t deny that—and it fits the pop-rock-metal style that characterizes the band.

As I mentioned, these are songs that never go out of style; they keep getting played, and the bands keep evolving, creating new songs and bringing in new members so that each one can add their own special touch.

Este tema en particular fue el primero que escuche con la nueva vocalista, In the End, lo recuerdo, porque fue cuando me enteré de su ingreso a la banda, me salió por las redes, o creo lo vi en el estado de alguien, no estoy segura, pero si, fue este tema, y pensé, se escucha tan diferente, sin embargo, tiene buena voz, no se le puede negar, acordé al tipo de musica pop rock metal, qué caracteriza a la banda.

Son temas que como mencione, con el tiempo no pasan de moda, siguen sonando, y las bandas se van transformando, generando nuevas canciones, atrayendo a nuevos integrantes, para que cada quien le dé su toque especial.
