It's been a while. My last real posts here were in early 2023, and before that I spent years building and writing on this chain — HAF Plug & Play, the Global Notification System, Hive DEX, and a lot of thinking out loud about attention value, communities, and what this blockchain makes possible.
Then I went quiet. The short version: the funding for what I was building didn't come through, and I stepped back to regroup. The longer version is that I never stopped working on the ideas — I just stopped posting about them.
I'm back, and I'm bringing the work with me.
What I've been building
The ideas I used to write about here — that freedom depends on systems that can't be quietly corrupted, that attention is a real economy, that communities with their own economies are how change actually happens — have grown into a vision: FreeBeings.io (freebeings.io).
FreeBeings.io is a research lab and community incubator. We use AI to surface the truths that matter — and we build blockchain-based communities where those truths can land and become fertile grounds for change. Hive is our Layer 1: accounts and content live here. A FreeBeings Layer 2 is planned for community tokens and governance — and if you remember Hive Attention Tokens, you already know the lineage. The L2 is HAT, matured.
On AI: we use it as a research instrument and a building tool. It's how a small team does research at a depth that used to require an institution, and how I ship software faster than I ever could alone. The thinking, the convictions, and the direction are mine — same as they've always been on this account.
FreeBeings DAO (you may have known it as FreeSpace)
Some of you might remember FreeSpace, the dApp I was building as a portal to the FreeBeings DAO before things stalled. It's finished, and it's live — under its real name: FreeBeings DAO, at dao.freebeings.io.
Why the rename? FreeSpace was always the working title. More to the point, the DAO is what it was always becoming. The name now just says what it is.
It's where the FreeBeings community lives: a space for projects that aim at positive change, built on Hive's primitives — posts, comments, votes, HBD/HIVE earnings — with discussion rooms, polls, and project updates on top. You join with your Hive account, and joining is joining the DAO.
It's also our testbed. The features we prove there will shape the communities infrastructure we build next.

Why come back here
Because this is where these ideas started. I joined in 2016, lived through the Steem era, and watched this chain survive things that would have killed a centralized platform. Everything FreeBeings.io is building on — sound infrastructure, voluntary participation, communities with their own economies — I learned and argued for here first.
We publish in the open: writing on Hive, and our Hive tools open source on GitHub. The @freebeings account will carry the project and research posts; this account stays what it's always been — me, thinking out loud.
