Hello everyone, making assumptions is one of the things we most often do when we're overwhelmed by a sea of thoughts, and depending on the situation, they can either calm us, excite us, or even put us on high alert. We make assumptions when planning events, when we want to organize a situation; we use them to fill in missing information, even to unintentionally alter something negatively, like criticisms or arguments. So, beyond being a simple deep thought or a doubt, they sometimes become solid scenarios where we unleash a whole story, and if we're also the kind of person who smiles a lot, it's the starting signal for those internal soap operas we can spend hours navigating.
Something we commonly see is that many assumptions are made in response to the daily news. The question is, what do we actually take as true and what don't? Letting ourselves be guided by assumptions is something that, if we don't really analyze things, can lead to stress or a tendency to believe that everything is absolutely true. Assumptions stem from unclear communication and, of course, from the search for clarity itself, so speculation also plays a significant role. And this, although it might sound strange, is something I see a lot in my own home with uncles and relatives who constantly make these assumptions based on misinformation. Then there comes a point where they get carried away by these assumptions and end up making these assertions, forgetting what actually happened. This then triggers another level of conflict: arguments about it.
And it is also where, seeing that something that affects the positive or negative aspects of this issue is assumptions, and that is precisely what sets limits, and it is that at some point we must know and be clear about everything we do, hear, or experience, and limit ourselves to knowing that if we assume something, it should stay there in that box, because understanding that assuming is not affirming or denying is what differentiates us from communicating healthily or not, and I see that in those moments when a person assumes something and when they find themselves in a situation where everything indicates that it is not going that way, they cling so tightly instead of admitting that it was just a simple assumption and it becomes erroneous statements that end up affecting us.

That's why we sometimes hear "think before you speak," and that plays a big role in this topic. A while back, in another thread started by this community, I made a reference to a chessboard, and I think it could fit again, but from this perspective. In this case, an assumption could be seen as when we deliberately assume the other player's move without analyzing the environment, the variables, and the various scenarios. If we let ourselves be carried away without being sure we're right, we could end up with a bad move or losing valuable opportunities. On the other hand, if we understand and know that it's just one possible option, we can have a positive result. So, applying this to everyday life, assuming isn't taking a step or having something guaranteed; rather, it's an option, something that might or might not happen.
So, making assumptions also implies having clear reasoning and not simply inventing something to get by... I don't know if I made myself clear with this topic proposed by @talentos for this week, since I admit it was a bit complicated to explain it better, even though I was clear about what I wanted to say, mainly because, as I mentioned, the topic of assumptions is something that I've seen sometimes generate more arguments than solutions. So, without further ado, and hoping you enjoy it, thank you for reading.
