After spending so much time at sea—and learning to admire the ocean that had once filled her with such fear—she began to see the brighter side of being in a new world. There was no specific reason for it; it simply felt like a fresh start, one that stirred a sense of excitement deep within her. She wondered if this journey could become even more incredible than it already was, and she also found herself curious about whether, at some point, she might be able to take a short break—to explore in a different way, without having to memorize so much magic or endure such grueling training. She wasn’t complaining, but she felt as though she hadn’t had a moment’s rest since she arrived.
Still, something that often made her laugh—and brought her a sense of ease—was observing the friends she made along the way. They would initially appear heroic, only to reveal funny, unexpected sides to their personalities that completely contradicted their first impressions. For instance, Jolius was formidable and fierce with his fire, yet throughout their sea voyage, he was a constant fountain of complaints—mostly about trying to keep his hair from getting wet! And then there was Ember; despite her tough exterior, she had a weakness for food—a quirk that the girl found absolutely hilarious.
"Seems like you’re having fun?" a voice echoed in her mind. Vaelok, who had been resting on her lap for a while, seemed to be tuned into her thoughts—something she had grown somewhat accustomed to. "Where exactly are we headed now?" she asked, her curiosity piqued as she stroked his dark-hued skin. "We’re going to see King," the little dragon replied, clearly enjoying the affection.
Another new adventurer? The girl mused, struck by the fact that every adventure seemed to bring a new ally. "Will they be as striking as the others already on the team?" she wondered, her curiosity growing. He’s even more entertaining than the ones you’ve already seen, I assure you, Vaelok. In any case, he’s a king—one who wields two very different weapons and cuts an imposing figure in his red cloak and armor. But don’t be fooled; I’m certain he can’t actually handle both of those weapons at the same time.
The girl let out a burst of laughter, causing everyone to turn and look at her with a touch of bewilderment. Suddenly feeling the weight of their gazes and unsure of how to respond, she simply stood up and asked if they were truly prepared to face this king—and if they could actually handle it. Everyone nodded, assuring her that, given her current strength, she would certainly be up to the task. They told her not to worry; once she arrived, everything would become clear.
Hello everyone! This is my entry for the challenge proposed by @takeru255. I focused a bit more on the character and her internal thoughts as the adventure unfolds. With that said, I hope you enjoy it—thank you very much for reading!
