Hi everyone! Lately, I’ve really enjoyed learning about and paying close attention to certain activities. I used to attend them simply because I wanted to be there, but since starting my journey in the world of Splinterlands, I view them differently and have a better understanding of how they work—so now, I make the most of these opportunities. Anyway, yesterday I joined some friends at @bulkathos regular tavern event—which takes place every Saturday without fail. It’s a space where we discuss game updates, answer questions, and hold mini-tournaments for the attendees. I’ll admit that in the past, I used to go just to chat and have a laugh, but this time I decided to give participating a try and see how I’d fare. So, today I’m going to show you a bit about how it went and what we achieved.
To start off, the session focused on what’s new this season, and we really reinforced a topic that many of us still find tricky: division. I have to say I’m still making progress—even though I’ve found it a bit more challenging—but the difference compared to before is clear. Anyway, there was a lot of discussion about it, and I came away with quite a few ideas to keep in mind. But the highlight was a small attendance raffle with two winners; luckily, I was one of them and received a pretty interesting card.
And then there is the Silverleaf Warlock (Elf) card—a Common-rarity, Death-element unit—which has 6 mana, 4 health, 3 speed, and 2 magic attack.
After that, the mini-tournament began, and I have to admit right off the bat that I got absolutely crushed. My opponent was @culebro; the thing is, most—if not all—of the players are experienced at this game and the skill level is high. So, in a format where the winner is decided by a best-of-three series, I only managed to win a single match before being dealt the knockout blow—but it was still a lot of fun.
But to my surprise, the story didn't end with that painful defeat; at the awards ceremony, @culebro—who had taken first place—gifted me the "Foundation" packs he had won, adding two more to bring the total to five, which really cheered me up. So, with that said, let's see what I got in them, since I wanted to open them right here in this post to share with you all.
We were lucky—and although we didn't pull any legendaries, we got three gold cards, which I really liked; the first was the Archon Marlai Singariel card—a Rare Water-type with a mana cost of 6 and the ability to grant +1 magic attack to allied units.
The next gold card is Dread Tafarian, a Common Earth-element card with 9 mana, 1 armor, 8 health, and 1 ranged attack, and it possesses the Heal ability.
And our third gold card is the Nim Guard Captain; it is a Common card of the Death element, featuring a mana cost of 7, 4 shield, 6 health, 3 speed, and 1 melee attack, and it possesses the Void ability.
And finally—last but not least—I ended up getting a card (I think it was a reward for the effort I put into trying to beat those experts, haha). Well, I need to learn how to use it properly since I’m not very familiar with it yet; it’s the Death-element "Lucky Longshot" card from Uncle Eica. It has 3 mana, 2 health, 2 speed, and 1 ranged attack, and it comes with the "Weapons Training" ability.
You could say it was a great day—we learned, played, and earned rewards, and I feel I did really well. Of course, I need to practice for future battles to improve my performance; it’s all about adapting and getting better at using the cards—especially the one we got from Lucky Longshot—to make the most of them in the Modern format and upcoming game modes. So, without further ado, I hope you enjoyed this post—thanks for reading!
