Ever since my account started on the original beta blockchain, I have had good intentions to create an archive of links to everything I have written. Since I had no clue what I was doing when I started, and it was on the Steemit website at first, some content will be quite outdated. Ideally, I will have each post edited to fix broken links, clean up old Steemit references, and so on, but that is a lot of work. I will try to update them as I go. I'm starting the archive at least, so there is hope! You can always find the old posts with old formatting on the old chain if you really want to see that for some reason. I don't plan to change anything there.
My first post was on August 11th, 2016, so this will cover just the last part of the year. I wasn't around for the very first bubble and crash, so I figured this entire ecosystem would probably fizzle away and I would use this as practice for some other venture. Well, here we are a decade later, and despite the market doldrums, it looks like we'll survive and maybe even thrive for the foreseeable future. Will the chain name change again, undoing my work here? Maybe.
A few notes: in the early days, the system seemed to encourage posting several times a day, and self-voting was not discouraged the way it is now. In fact, voting on your own post was a checkbox in the post composition menu. A lot of the time, the only vote on my posts was my own. Now, we have a better environment for new users. White a basic introduction post, use the proper tags, and get some real traction that way. Make good engaging comments on other posts. Build conversations. This is a community where participation builds a foundation. Get a better start than I did, OK?
This is hopefully a complete list of everything I posted in 2016, whether good, bad, polished, rough, weird, experimental, or profound. I am proud of some of it. Maybe I'll write a post with selected highlights, or specific lists for specific topics. Do you think that would be useful?
August
Basic Firearm Safety I still stand by this post 100%.
Board Game Review: You need to play "Frag" It went out of print for a while, but a new edition is out as of this 2026 archive post!
Identity Matters - Or Does It? Was this prescient, or did it age like spilled milk? We had no idea how identity politics would evolve. Now some Democrats are even trying to distance themselves from "Woke 1.
An Introduction to Magic: The Gathering Overly wordy yet overly simplistic? Not great. Skip this one.
Games, War, Violence, and the NAP Exploring the possible conflict between my politics and recreational choices.
Tothe's Unfamiliar Quotations The title is a riff on Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, and this post was in dire need of a few illustrations. Note to self: link to quality citations for these quotes in a future update.
Magic: The Gathering - Deck Building Strategies and Archetypes Honestly, this post is worthless crap.
Government, crime, and the market A bit of a rant, and not my best work.
The new cryptocurrency sweeping the world: Bipcoin! This altcoin crashed. Surprise! I still like the ideas behind it. A Monero-based token with blockchain-based DNS to resist censorship still has potential even now.
Librarian Gripes I had been a librarian for three years at this point. This is the first post on the topic.
Laws, Crime, Justice, and Reason I still stand by this post. Maybe I should add more links to support my argument for those who want to explore the debate further. This argument does not look like it will die any time soon.
War game models: A controversial opinion? A less serious topic, but no less mired in legalism: tabletop war game miniatures. Tournaments are one thing, but angry purists demanding everyone have authentic models at a casual game are another entirely.

4 Questions You Aren't Supposed To Ask I think these core questions remain relevant, and answering them could help people avoid talking past one another or building strawman caricatures of their opponents in a political debate.
Libertarianism and Fascism: A Bizarre Connection Trying to sort a chain of reasoning which rears its head again and again even today.
Librarian's Questions More library gripes? Not quite. Well, not entirely.
Five Key Economic Concepts Described in the Context of "Magic: The Gathering" This was an attempt to illustrate some economic concepts using a unique model of trading card games and deck building. Did I bring clarity or confusion? You tell me.
October
Five More Economic Concepts Illustrated Through "Magic: The Gathering" What it says on the tin.
Disasters and Economic Fallacies Every time there is a disaster, accusations of "price gouging" are thrown around, and someone always says, "Well, at least this will boost the economy as people rebuild!" These are both wrong.
Proof of Market Failure People don't want to understand the causes, they want to find an enemy to blame.
Should Christians Vote? That was before a contentious Presidential election. A lot has happened since then. And now as of this post, a contentious midterm looms. As always, it's called "the most important election of our lifetime."
Your Party's Candidate Despite the catastrophic outcomes of every single election, the same tired excuses keep cropping up.
Little-Known "Facts" In hindsight, this should have been an April Fools post. Feel free to use these "facts" inappropriately.
November
Taking a Stand Nothing has changed my views since then, except to reinforce this over and over with ever-mounting evidence.
Libertarianism is Childish. Poking fun at a lazy dismissal which remains popular today.
Magic: The Gathering Color Guide, parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 Not really relevant anymore, but hey, maybe you'll learn something about one of my niche hobbies. probably not, though.
The BipCot NoGov License Still the best license available in my humble opinion
Grishnak Models War Maidens Review This is (was?) a small Russian company. I have no idea whether it still exists, and current world events mean even if they do, it may be impossible to order anything. This post had a lot of broken image links, but I found my old files in my digital archive and everything should work now. Formatting leaves something to be desired, but one step at a time.
Stonehaven Miniatures Review Alas, their website appears to have expired, and they haven't posted anything on Facebook since Christmas season of 2025. I had originally uploaded a picture of a model I painted to Photobucket. Remember when that was a good image hosting site that offered free services and didn't treat its users like garbage? Those were the good old days...
"Somebodies and Nobodies" - A Book Summary & Review I gave away my copy to someone else. I still recommend it. I updated the image link so it works until the publisher changes their website again.
Bombshell Miniatures Review A company that still exists? Yes! Embedded image links still working? Yes again! No broken links in the text body? OK, we didn't go 3 for 3. I should edit this a bit. Eventually. If I get around to it.
Reaper Miniatures Review This company also still exists, and wile their site is basic, it remains perfectly functional. I think the old links all even work properly! I needed to update another Photobucket image, though.
Request for Automotive Repair Help Moot point now, disregard.
Suggested Listening: A Podcast Recommendation List Pretty much all of these still stand. Astonishing Legends has fallen off my radar since then, but if you like a combination of true crime and folklore, check it out.
A View of the Columbia River I had to dig to find the images I needed to re-upload. Photobucket strikes again. Watermarks and bad links solved.
Time to introduce myself? Yeah, I probably should have started with one of these at the beginning. Better late than never?
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Intro A lot has changed since a decade ago when it was a fan format with barely any official recognition. Now it has all but taken over the game which spawned it, and official support has made it both better and worse than it was a decade ago.
December
I think I really overdid it at this point. I was experimenting, and frequent posting was the norm. I think the newer short form threads are better for a lot of what I made as old-school top-level posts then.
Suggested Listening 2: Another Podcast Recommendation List The Kontra Krugman podcast has been retired, but the old episodes are still worth a listen, since Krugman's bad arguments remain popular. I mentioned Tom Woods, but his co-host Bob Murphy has his own podcast as well, covering a variety of topics including politics, economics, and theology.
Today I Learned How to Improvise a Boot Lace In hindsight, those boots were just garbage all around, "cheap" in every sense of the word. If you can afford them, buy good boots. If you can't, learn how to fix what you have. Parachute cord is a good emergency boot lace as well.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 1 I still have an updated version of this deck, but I don't play it often. It's too aggressive for my usual group, and not strong or consistent enough for general use. It's a paradox. But it's also still my pet deck.
Flag-Burning and Freedom Last year, Donald Trump claimed authority to ban flag burning, and has been challenged. This debate is not over.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 2 This deck has since been dismantled and key elements rolled into a more recent project. Such is the life of a deck.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Variants - Pauper and Tiny Leaders Both formats have changed a bit, but remain worth a look.
Questions About Steemit Framework, Culture and Norms Obsolete post is obsolete
Vitamin String Quartet Still fun music. Why wouldn't you be curious about a string quartet playing arrangements of popular music, TV themes, and film scores?
Censorship-Proof DNS via Cryptonote Blockchain Still a dead project. Still worth someone revisiting.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 3 This deck is still around in an updated form. @Generikat likes it.
TIL How to Easily Tell Alligators and Crocodiles Apart Science!
The Dreamcatcher Blessing I still think this true story is among my best work.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 4 This deck is also still around, although also very updated.
Idaho Winter Evening I found this photo again!
Redhook ESB: An Amateurish Beer Review The first in what would become a long, irregular series of posts about exploring mostly craft beers and microbrews. I'm not a heavy drinker, I don't speak the beer connoisseur vocabulary, and I don't pretend to be an expert even now.
Pearl Harbor - The Untold Story I'm still leery of the official story here, and open to the possibility FDR was a dirty rat eager for a war and manipulating matters behind the scenes. Or maybe a bunch of ignorant power-mad rulers couldn't resist opportunities to shed the blood of their subjects for wealth and glory.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 5 I still have an updated version of this deck, too. I still enjoy playing it.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 6 This deck is partially dismantled. Mill is an intriguing mechanic, but just not fun to actually play.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 7 This is still in the library of decks I play from time to time, too, although it has been adjusted a lot to focus less on forced discard.
RPG Adventure Hook Link Still a fun story hook. I think I did run it once. I need to plan for it again.
Proof that Steemit is a Satanic Conspiracy The screenshot is gone, but I had 666.666 Steem Power (now Hive Power).
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 8 This deck is long since dismantled.
Can Steemit be used as a comment plugin? This could still be an interesting application of our blockchain.
Last Minute Christmas Discount on Stonehaven Miniatures Outdated, and as noted above, the website appears to be defunct now.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 9 This deck was fun for a while, but I took it apart because I needed the cards for other projects.
Idaho Winter - Fresh Snow Still had these photos backed up!
What Makes a Hero's Actions Heroic? Rambly not-quite-nonsense poking at ideas of heroism.
An Alternative to Trump? This is looking more and more like an improvement every day here in 2026...
Magic: The Gathering - Gameplay Variants These could still be fun.
Steam Game Giveaway Giveaway over.
Make Your Own Steampunk Can Opener Is this pointless? Yes. Was it fun anyway? Also yes.
Starflyer 59 Another music post about a band you have probably never heard before.
Magic: The Gathering - Modern Deck 1 I still run this deck, with minor tweaks. Solid casual deck, not tournament grade, but fun.
Master Crafted Gaming is giving away some prizes! Outdated. I still didn't know what I wanted to do, and I prefer less time-sensitive, more evergreen content nowadays.
Magic: The Gathering - Pauper Commander Deck 1 I should rebuild this. It was fun. At the time, it overlapped too much with other decks, but this would be more unique now.
Warnings for Gift-Buyers Quality trumps quantity. Don't be cheap.
Errors that will not die (Part 1) Dismantling some political rhetoric favored by Democrats on the "social contract" and society.
The Christmas Truce A hint at what could have been, had men followed Christ instead of generals.
Christmas Carol Parodies What it says on the tin. 'Tis the season!
Errors that will not die (Part 2) Do we really need to respect the office?
White Christmas More broken image links have been fixed.
Five Iron Frenzy I still like this band, and we're overdue for a 4th wave of ska.
Merry Christmas Just a link to a song, but it's a good song.
Haiku Thread Another dead link Deleted and not replaced Was that too lazy?
Errors that will not die (Part 3) Taxation is the price we pay for failing to build a civilized society.
8 Extraordinary Things You Need to Know About People With Chronic Illness A link to another article that covered the issue better than I could.
Tribute to Hobo Editing in the broken images was bittersweet. I still miss that cat. She was the best.
Magic: The Gathering - Commander Deck Overview 10 I still haven't managed to make a mono-black Commander deck I like.
Peter's Evil Overlord List This is a copy/paste of a funny piece of early internet glory.
Peter's Evil Overlord List - The Dungeon More of the same from before
Fluxx - The Card Game of Chaos I just played a version of Fluxx with some friends a couple weeks ago. Great game. Still recommended.
Nokia 5230 - An Obsolete Cell Phone Review Now hopelessly obsolete. I miss pre-Apple/Android phones.
Adventures in a New Job This was quite the change, but so much more has changed since then...
This has taken a long time to check, edit, and summarize. Old internal links needed to be updated to Hive, so I used PeakD as my preferred frontend for consistency. Broken links to external sites needed to be verified and updated. Images needed to be re-uploaded. Future posts will take even longer, at least up until I reach when I began writing monthly and annual retrospective posts, since this only covers a few months. They say, "A job well begun is a job half done," but that's understating the work ahead. And I suppose I should log on to Steemit again to post a version there just for the sake of completion, at least with all my posts on that platform up until fork day in 2020.
If you're not on Hive yet, I invite you to join through InLeo or PeakD. If you use either of my referral links, I'll even try to delegate some Hive Power to help you get started.
