Coming back home after a wonderful week-long vacation can leave you with a strong sense of homesickness. Right now I am missing my friends, family, and relatives back in the Philippines so much that I decided to sit down and draw all of them in one session to bring them closer. I did not include myself in the picture but I spent a lot of time on this piece, trying to capture each person's unique likeness and personality as best as I could. Some are a little difficult to draw I just tried my best to include some articles that would give a clue as to who is who. It took a while. One character took more than a few minutes multiply by ten. I actually removed the kids because this is taking longer. At first everyone is looking straight in front but that was boring so I captured some emotions and funny moments when I was with them. I just kept filling the canvas one friend and family member at a time, building up their shapes and clothes stroke by stroke until everyone was right there together on the screen. It took quite a while to finish it all in one sitting, but seeing the completed drawing brought such a happy feeling. it almost feels like having them close by again. I kept the rough sketch of the kids maybe I will revisit this drawing and add them when I can. I just love looking at it this is a conversation piece I'm pretty sure my folks will love and keep talking about it when they see it. It was worth my time and effort something to remember my vacation in pinas by.
