Splinterlands: Agniavan Salamander is good in Keep Your Distance

Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Agniavan Salamander.

Featured cards

image.png Agniavan Salamander is a fire splinter that costs 8 mana. This card only has the blast ability, and leveling it increases its health by 1. This isn't a card that I use too much but it depends on the situation.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

rule set.png

The rulesets this time are Keep Your Distance. This means that no melee monsters can be used. There are also 47 mana available, and I can use only fire splinter.

Splinter Mana Cost Position Reason
Barthalamas 6 Summoner +1 speed
Scales of Justice 5 1st Dodge
Lunaki Howler 7 2nd
Agniavan Salamander 8 3rd Blast
Ash Archer 5 4th
Sturdy Axe Warden 8 5th
A'lan Musketeer 8 6th Double Strike
Total Mana: 47

The focus of this lineup is to keep my monsters alive while dealing damage and outlasting my opponent. My archon is Barthalamas for the +1 speed. Scales of Justice is my tank with dodge, followed by Lunaki Howler. Then I have ranged monsters with Agniavan Salamander up front, and the rest as damage dealers.

Round 1

round 1.png At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, but I have an advantage because I have Agniavan Salamander as a backup tank, and his first tank is useless in this match. We do have similar lineups with only a few of my cards not at maxed level.

Round 6

round 6.png A few rounds later, my opponent has 1 monster left, but I still have all of mine. It's my win because my opponent can't attack anymore.

conclusion.png I won the match later that round.

Conclusion

The battle did go exactly as planned. I won because Agniavan Salamander worked as both a backup tank and damage dealer. That blast damage did add up, and that damage added up over time against my opponent. We did have similar lines as both of our Scales of Justice dodged quite a few attacks on both sides.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

keeping all your monsters alive until round six is pretty impressive especially with a ruleset like keep your distance neutralizing half the usual roster options

I think the enemy team has less damage output based on the line up

The blast damage was quite useful in the match !HBIT

I like games where you easily outsmart your opponent even though you played a very similar lineup, I think you had the advantage of more health cards, and obviously your range cards did more damage than your opponent
