While I'm not 'officially' attending #theology school, I'm starting up a new semester in my self-study academy I've been attending for a year now...
Huh?
O.K., so a bit of background....Last year, my wife and I were watching some sermons from a pastor we really enjoy. And he broke down a strategy to self educate yourself and accumulate the knowledge that is comparable to a theology degree.
Now obviously, there's more to it than that, but the idea was simple...
Pick a book for the following 7 topics:
Prophecy
Physiology
Church history
Christology
Doctrines of the church
Sanctuary study
Family issues
And read that book, every day of the week. Basically, you would get through a 'semester' in about a month, and then after you've read through each book, you could start a new semester. Repeat that for a few years, and the pastor claimed that you would know more doctrine, truth and history than a kid that went to college for 4 years.
And it would be a fraction of the cost as well.
I've gone through this exercise two times already over the past year, and tonight I decided to pick some new books to dig into....
There's my curriculum for the next month and I'm excited to dive into my first book tonight....
This has been such a blessing to me so far, and I'm so thankful that I found books for each one of my 'courses' for this semester...
So tonight I'm starting with a book by one of my all time favorite pastor's on planet earth - Doug Batchelor.
It's funny because when I first started taking my #faith seriously, I credit Pastor Doug with helping me understand bible history and how important it was to study prophecy.
It's a small book, but what has happened in the past is that once I'm done with a book and have an open day of the week, I usually use that day to get through my other books quicker.
Obviously there is plenty of note taking going to take place over the next month and that's really how I can jam pack so much information into my brain over the next four weeks or so.
I have always said, that if I was like 20 years younger, I would have loved to get my theology degree from college, so while this isn't the same and there's no 'piece of paper' at the end of it...I find this to be just as rewarding, and so profitable to my walk with Jesus!
That's it for tonight....Excuse me as I hit the #books :)
We'd love to have you join and take part in both the Kingdom community on chain as well as it's Discord channel. We are a friendly bunch, that love to discuss religion and our walks with Jesus. We'd love to see you!
Also, I have a healthy amount of #bbho that I upvote with in the BBHO Community. If you add #bbh to your blog posts tags, I'll make sure to give you a hefty upvote as well!
If you leave a thoughtful comment on any of my blog posts (and find the hidden words in my videos...) I'll send you some HSBI shares as a reward for engaging with me.
