Getting Money-Making opportunities now requires a lot from you....

Around this time last year, I got this decent computer to do AI jobs online, while replacing my phone at the same time too, but fast-forward to today, I realized I should have probably gotten a Mac book, as most of the AI jobs favours users who basically owns a MAC.

I started training AI in 2023, and back then all they needed was your reasoning skills. I applied for a few of the jobs on a particular platform called UHRS, and after failing for a while, I got a grip of it and started training, the money wasn't a lot, it was monthly paid, and I honestly enjoyed the job....

fast-forward to 2026, they require you to have some form of machines and gadgets, right now I only have window as my functional OS, and opportunity are very rare for windows users.

I literally got an offer on my Gmail yesterday asking for to apply for a 50$ per hour offer, and up to 2000$ a week, only if I have a MACBOOK and I can answer questions or share my screen to prove I indeed use a MacBook. But then, so sad. Could have just gotten a MacBook instead.

On the other hand I'm still trying out content creation on YouTube. After like 5 failed attempts and 3 months later, I got a functional channel that been doing decent numbers, subscribers are coming in, and if not for the electricity situation that's been going on for a while, I feel confident that I can monetize the channel by January.

On the other hand JFANG is helping me with a channel, (and I honestly can say how grateful I am) and I'm giving myself 2 to 3 months to get this channel to start getting views and subscribers.

I still need to put in work on that aspect. But I'm grateful to be able to have an opportunity to have a fresh channel that is likely to do well, and soon enough, with the electricity back in 2 to 3 weeks time, I can start cooking some really good videos.

I'm helping a friend apply for STEM roles in AI training too, it's been difficult to convince him to do the trainings and interviews because he's failed in so many attempts, but as someone who has failed before in AI training after many initial attempts, only to final secure some decent opportunities after a long time of trying, I think the idea is to just keep on trying and keep on going, no matter how exhausting it is.

Personally I enjoy training AI, making contents and this is why I'm currently not giving up on my YouTube content creation.

It's been a lot of learning process and I'm beginning to figure it out, and somehow, deep down I think in 6 months time I should be able to monetize one channel while waiting for crypto to make a massive passive, still hoping this friend of mine can keep applying.

He couldn't get his mother's friend in the US to Kickstart his HANDSHAKE AI job going, he's opened the account, got crazy 100$ offer, and suddenly his mother friend in the US says she wouldn't hand him the account to do the job cuz she wants to give it a shot herself, and since them he's lost the motivation to keep applying for opportunities that natively open to users living in Nigeria.

I mean I would be sad if it was me, but most times we fail 99% of times, but we gotta stay motivated else, we risk losing the jackpot that might come with the remaining 1%, which is sad.

Conclusion

With 600 to 1000$ I should be able to actually get myself a MacBook to access this 60$ per hour offer, but it's currently a lot of money, I cannot afford which means I'm getting to kiss a job opportunity goodbye because I actually don't have the gadgets to do the job.

It's messy, and near success syndrome can be very frustrating. You can feel yourself finally hitting a good opportunity only for something to take that all away.

I've been there many times, but I know that as long I keep staying alive, I'll probably get lucky someday, especially if I don't throw in the towel. But I'll probably consider getting myself a MacBook and probably going off the grid to tackle my electricity problems, but this will depend on if I monetize a channel in 6 months time, or probably hope for crypto to pump (which is probably only possible until Q2 2028)

I find it hard to se that someone accepted it then backed out, but sometimes they just see the money and grab it. I wouldn't feel that comfortable doing that to someone. I hope you are able to get that macbook and take that opportunity, but I am just not sure if $50/hr for a macbook seems valid. Then again, Macbooks are pretty good machines and they can definitely be used to run AI stuff. I am just not sure I would feel comfortable letting them access your own computer when it might have sensitive information.

Oh so that woman wanted to give it a shot herself and hence why she refused to drop it, hmmm human... She could have considered who brought the idea

Oh, I can relate to missing out on nice opportunities because you lacked certain gadgets. It's usually tough, but you can't do anything about it except to continue pushing forward and trying more gigs.

I feel for your friend. No one would be happy after that experience. Buy that woman no try at all o.

That $50/hr offer that requires a screen share to prove you own a MacBook is honestly the wildest detail here. If the MacBook is the key that unlocks the work, is saving up for one still the plan, or has the YouTube channel taken over as the main bet?
