I bought huawei matepad for many reasons it's cheap, convenient and mostly i can draw outside bringing it without carrying heavy equipment unlike my drawing tablet..
for someone whose a clip studio paint user, this is mostly me comparing Gopaint app to csp, just sharing some of my thoughts, though my blabberings are at the end of this blog hahah so in the upper part of this blog its just me sharing the brushes i use,
GRADIANT LINE
it has that pen pressure that can pass my preference when i do sketch, so far so good, just getting used to it but its not really what i use, though i set it as my favorite in case i might need it...
6B PENCIL
well.. it functions just like a pencil, may it be HB, 2B, 6B it has the same effect and the pen pressure is just right for me, and its the pen that i always use, surprisingly the brush pen pressures suits my preference
WATER MARK OUTLINE
though it's for watercolor usage, i explored every pen in this area to see if i can have the pen pressure i wanted, im glad i found one that could be useful for sketch
WILLOW LEAF
its the lasso tool in this app, I've seen this willow leaf brush used by other apps as well with a different name ofc, but the same function, i saw it one of the digital artist on tiktok, anyways, it's very useful in coloring, and i really really like it's function, im having fun with it.
Realizations using Gopaint app: comparing it to csp
while coloring i noticed that it takes so much layer to color, when i use my csp i could just use 1-10 layers max, but here every part needs to be separated,
cps has many ways to do a shortcut in coloring while in this app i have had to take the long cut, (or maybe i might be the problem, it could be skill issue on my part since im still getting to know the app)
more thoughts on it are:
it only has few brushes to use compared to csp, i downloaded everything in their store and wishing there are some updates for more brushes, especially good ones with good pen pressure, though creating brushes is an option but its still inconvenient so i just settled to the brushes provided and exploring everything which one suits to my preferences and sometimes i just watch creators that makes their brushes in this app on tiktok to see if i can make use of it too.
pen pressure isn't there, even though stabilizing it fully, it still has that slippery effect but i think the M-pencil is the problem, wishing they could fix it someday
M-pencil 2 button functions in the pen is too sensitive. the shortcut keys easily switches to brush and eraser without me intentionally touching it so i had to turn off its setting even though its the most useful tool for a digital artist
the reference setting doesn't have a horizontal flip and vertical flip and a previous button image, images needs to be imported again, kind of a hassle but then i found a solution for it, reference getting imported inside the canvas layer and that's where you flip the image reference , but for someone who uses timelapse it's in the way 😅
but then so far I've gotten used to its function
