Good afternoon, lovely folks at @diyhub! I’m feeling very happy and motivated today because I’m sharing a cute upcycling and sustainable fashion project with you. I created a lovely little dress for a female dog out of a handsome men's shirt, designed to keep her cool, comfortable, and stylish this summer while beautifully highlighting her coat. These are the kinds of projects I love doing most; transforming the look or structure of a garment into something completely different makes the whole process so much fun.

Donde cree una linda bata para cahorra de una hermosa batadecasa, para llevar un verano mas freco, cómodo y a la moda, resaltando con mucho estilo el pelaje de esta amiguita. Este tipo de proyectos son los que mas amo hacer, pues el cambiar tanto la presencia o estructura de una prenda a otra completamente diferente, hace que el proceso sea tan entretenido.
As soon as I saw this shirt, I knew I would use it for various projects. But the urge to create a unique garment for a little puppy won out, and I ended up making this one-of-a-kind top using a special, delicate fabric. As with every project, I drew inspiration from lovely ideas on Pinterest, finding two beautiful options that were perfect for creating this crop top.
Desde que vi este tejido quede enamorada, supe que la usaria para varios proyectos. Pero las ganas de crear una prenda única para vestir a una cachorrita me vencio, y termine creando esta única y original bata, con un tejido especial y delicado. Procedure: 1st step: For this project, I started by cutting out the pieces that would make up the little dress. I used two wide strips for the straps and several rectangles for the skirt's fullness, the bow, and the bodice. Since the dog was quite large and chubby, I had to join several rectangles together to achieve a nice effect with the pleats. Once each piece is ready, I proceed to join the skirt-like section and the long, flowing part—gathering the latter by hand—to attach it to the smaller skirt.
1er paso: Para este proyecto comence sacando las piezas que conformarían la batita. Desde dos listones con un corte semicircular, lograkdo un estilo de corte princesa, hasta otros mas finos para sus tirantes y la parte de alante. Una vez listas cada pieza, procedo a empatar, la especie de falda y el vuelo largo, frunciendola a mano, para empatarla a la faldita.
2nd step: Started by folding the straps for this piece in half and sewing a straight stitch along the wrong side of the fabric. Then, I turned them right-side out and secured the seams by stitching along each edge. I attached the straps to the front and back bodice pieces, sewing them so they would be tucked inside. I also attached small loops to the sides—using the same method as for the straps—to allow for manual adjustment of the top's width using small ties.
2do paso: Una vez lista la faldita, procedia hacer la parte de arriba, colocando la pieza doble y los tirantes por dentro, cosiendo por todo el contorno, dejando sin coser el area donde se empataran ambas piezas, formando asi toda la parte trasera de mi batica.
Step 3: For the front section, I simply took a strip of fabric and made fairly wide hems to serve as channels for the elastic. Once they were ready, I attached them to the other piece, resulting in a lovely garment for pets.
3er paso: En el area delantera, solo tome un liston y realice los dobladillos medio anchitos, para usarlos como puentes para los elasticos. Una vez listos,los uni a la otra pieza, quedando asi una linda prenda para mascotas.
