Hive platform has made it difficult for me to engage in other platforms where one needs to build a large audience before getting paid. I love how it is here; even a beginner who has been here for just a day can get something out of their posts.
Yeah, I've tried to build an audience on one of the social media platforms so I can start earning there, but the fact that I need to have thousands of followers before I can apply to start earning puts me off a lot. I have tried and tried but hey, I kept running back to Hive to utilize those moments here because I started seeing it as if I was wasting my time.
Among other things, one of the things that I've learned to master very well, and understand its usefulness, is the importance of citing references or giving credit to ideas, videos or photos used in making a publication.
There was one time I walked down to a kind of faraway fuel station to buy fuel. As I was coming back, I saw a signpost where the photo used in the graphics had a watermark from the site. My brain ran far away in thought, with a bit of anger. Why would a graphics designer use a watermarked photo to make graphics? In case you don't know, that means an illegal action because the photo ought to have been paid for, but the designer didn't do so. I got to learn about this idea from the Hive platform. It's totally wrong to use a watermarked photo that ought to be obtained from a premium account.
Still on this copyright and plagiarism thing, Hive gave me the best insight into the importance of referencing photos and ideas from other people's work. This is why, each time I visit social media platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram, I get irritated a lot by how easily people do "copy and paste" without citing references. Sometimes, I wish I were a moderator on those platforms; let me keep suspending their accounts for copyright infringement. It's so sickening to come across a post with the same content, both photos, videos, and write-up, being posted more than 1,000 times by different users, and they feel they're doing the right thing just because the platforms don't react against it. The Hive platform gave me a better understanding of how to be original.
