When I came across this topic, I wanted to go into politics, but I paused and thought of other angles. When my mind navigated to Hive, one name screamed so loudly, and for everyone reading this, I bet you also quickly thought of one name when you read to this point. Did I lie? No! If you didn't think of the name, it's obvious you're just below a year on this platform.
Most of the people I saw who encountered abuse of power by the powerful man (let's call him the god of Hive) didn't actually violate any major rules on the Hive platform. It was just a mere comment dropped where it ought not to have been, or the use of a photo from an allowed website (source added), even though the particular community where the article was published doesn't allow photos from websites. Or maybe the god of Hive came across someone upvoting their own posts or powering down. This god of Hive would go ahead and put the user on a permanent downvote.
I remember a time when someone fell victim to the laws of this god of Hive. The person admitted the error, but hey, the god of Hive had already made up his mind to strike, and till today, the person has been on a lifetime downvote by this god of Hive. The user couldn't cope with the resentment and everything that came with it, so she had to leave Hive completely.
Many times, I've had conversations with friends, and we usually talk angrily about how the god of Hive abuses the power he possesses, thereby making a lot of users stay away from him and everything that concerns him on the blockchain. One of my friends would say, "Kingsleyy, if you ever step on my toes, I'll take your name to the god of Hive so he can put you on his blacklist." We would laugh over it, but honestly, this god of Hive needs to be talked to. But who's going to do that? The Hive platform is such a place where anyone can acquire power and do as they like, and nobody has a say over them.
There was also a time I came across this guy, and I feared I would be added to his blacklist. His comments on my post scared me a lot, even though I hadn't done anything wrong. Lol.
It was a post I made through the Ecency frontend, and in those days, Ecency voted for people who used its frontend to make posts and also used the Ecency points in their wallets to BOOST their posts. So, when this guy saw that I had used Ecency to make the post and Ecency had already voted for it, he went on to comment that he would have voted for me, but I had already self-voted through the Ecency Boost feature. Meanwhile, that was a normal thing for those who used the Ecency frontend. That day, I feared he was going to blacklist me. Lol.
As funny as it sounds, and even though everything seems normal from his end, a lot of people dislike this god of Hive and his pattern of abusing power. But then, there's nothing that can be done.
If you read this and someone came to mind, that's exactly the person. But hey, I didn't mention any names. I come and go in peace.
Thanks for reading.
