Another week of the UFC—this Saturday, September 12, we’ll have a pretty interesting card with some fights that could be exciting, but in my opinion, this card could have been much better; I think it could have featured some bigger names that would have been a little more eye-catching.
Well, first of all, and something I can’t deny, is the support the UFC gives to Latino fighters—there’s always backing for them, and the UFC is always committed to recognizing them. That’s something I truly applaud and really appreciate about this organization, because I think it’s a really nice gesture.
However, I think the main event—the fight between Jean Silva and José Delgado—is a little disappointing, because it doesn’t seem all that appealing to many casual fans of the sport, or even to many Latino or Mexican fans who aren’t that into it. I don’t think they’ll be very interested in this fight, since while it’s true that these two fighters are quite good within the organization and are well-known, and both of them are gaining prominence within the organization, but to the casual audience, they aren’t that appealing, and I don’t think they’ll generate much excitement among fans.
It’s worth noting that I’m not downplaying either of these two fighters—they’re both gladiators—and they’re both going to give it their all this Saturday; they’re both going to put on the best show they possibly can. But it’s true that they aren’t as famous as some other fighters might be.
For example, the night’s co-main event between Brandon Moreno and Joseph Morales is going to be absolutely intense. Both fighters are going to give it their all and perform at their best—as is customary for Brandon Moreno, whom we already know is a true gladiator in the Octagon who always delivers mind-blowing and extremely exciting fights. As for Joseph Morales, who also has a tremendous record, I think this fight won’t last long—it’s going to end quickly —either by knockout or submission. I think Brandon has a slight edge in that regard, but if this fight drags on, believe me, it’s going to be absolute madness. These two are going to give it their all, and I think Moreno is a little better prepared for this fight. I’m confident that Moreno is going to put up a real fight.
The fight I'm most looking forward to on this card is between Alexa Grasso and Mainon Fiorot, the 36-year-old French fighter who has an 8-1 record in the UFC, with her only loss coming against Valentina.By the way, Grasso is the only woman in the UFC to have submitted Shevchenko. I think this could have been the main event or co-main event of the night. In my opinion, Alexa Grasso is a true gladiator—she has one of the most incredible and brutal knockouts in the history of the UFC against Maicee Barber. I think this fight is tailor-made for Alexa Graso. I hope she can get her hand raised and emerge victorious from this fight, which won’t be easy for her. I think the French fighter has a pretty respectable record, even though she’s getting a bit older. I believe she still has a lot of fight left in her and a lot to give to this organization.

So we’ll have some fights that are going to be really fun and really exciting. I hope this will be a card where the Latino fighters can come away with the victory. Man, it’s a shame that the fight between Kelvin Gastelum and the other fight featuring Yahir Rodríguez were canceled. It’s a real pity that we won’t be able to see these fighters on this card; I think they would have added a lot of excitement and a lot of weight to it Overall, I think it’s going to be a night of real thrills. I think it’s going to be a roller-coaster of a night because I think we’re going to have a little bit of everything.
Well, to wrap things up, I hope—as I said before and will say again—that the Latin American fighters come away with a victory tonight, and then we can celebrate the night and celebrate our national holidays in a big way, because we’re celebrating Central America, Mexico, and many South American countries are celebrating their independence. We’re celebrating our independence, and what better way to do it than with an amazing night of UFC? Go, Latin America! Let’s go!
