Digo famosa porque esta panetela no solamente sabe a vainilla, merengue y almíbar. Esta rica panetela también sabe a hogar, a familia, a celebración, a victoria, a alegría. Sobre todo me sabe a infancia. Es casi imposible que probarla no me transporte a mi dulce niñez y cada evento importante, muchos de ellos fueron cumpleaños.

Los hacía para la merienda de mi hermano y mía, para la escuela. También era su regalo preferido, para hacer a amistades y seres queridos. Incluso intentó emprender vendiéndolas, pero aunque sus panetelas son las más ricas del mundo, no lo logró por falta de promoción. No conseguía muchos clientes así que tuvo que dejar ese proyecto de lado.
From a young age, my mum taught me how to make it; she’d ask me to help her prepare it. It was quite normal to see my mum in the kitchen, always making some sort of sweet treat. She’d make them for my brother’s and my afternoon snacks, to take to school. They were also her favourite gift to give to friends and loved ones. She even tried to start a business selling them, but although her panetelas are the most delicious in the world, she didn’t succeed due to a lack of promotion. She couldn’t attract many customers, so she had to put that project on hold.

I went to visit my mum at her house and she was making her delicious panetela. When the meringue was ready, I took two forks and used them to brown the little meringues a bit, just as I used to do when I was a child. I felt like a little girl again for a few seconds. It was such a lovely moment. Those browned meringues were so delicious!
Recuerdo que a mi mamá le gustaba echarle encima al merengue de la panetelas polvo de galleta o maní o polvo de chocolate. Está vez fue la última opción. I remember that my mum used to like sprinkling biscuit crumbs, ground peanuts or cocoa powder over the meringue on the panetelas. This time, she went for the last option. I loved the flavour it gave the panetela, not to mention that it makes it look prettier and more eye-catching. It was lovely to take a trip down memory lane with my mum. And what about you all?
