Been giving out LasseCash donations for years now.

Six years of giving LASSECASH away, one signature at a time

Since May 2020 I have sent LASSECASH to strangers by hand. Not through a distribution contract, not through a bot, not as an airdrop I set up once and forgot. One transaction at a time, chosen one person at a time.

Here is the whole record.

592 separate gifts
275 different people
12,750,853.98 LASSECASH
2020-05-14 → 2026-08-17

I hold 7,027,939 LASSECASH today. I have given away more than I own.

I was allocated 11 million at inception in 2019. Everything else that exists came from the inflation schedule I published before day one and never touched for myself. The difference between 11 million and 7.27 million went to other people, and so did the 12.75 million above.

Every year, without a gap

year gifts people LASSECASH
2020 78 37 1,647,154.00
2021 111 64 1,634,619.00
2022 34 26 730,504.00
2023 105 79 1,979,088.77
2024 65 41 1,867,275.26
2025 156 66 2,979,329.95
2026 43 31 1,912,883.00

2022 was the quiet year. I was still here.

What the gifts looked like

       size per person people total
  500,000+ 4 2,621,111
  100,000 – 500,000 40 6,458,858
   50,000 – 100,000 11 702,085
   10,000 – 50,000 171 2,783,420
    1,000 – 10,000 41 183,446
      under 1,000 8 1,933

Median gift: 12,000 LASSECASH. Average: 46,367.

489 of the 592 were sent as LASSECASH POWER — staked directly into the recipient's account, so it could not be dumped the same afternoon. That was deliberate. I wanted people to hold it long enough to find out what it was.

Amsterdam, 26 September 2022

HiveFest⁷ ran 22–25 September 2022 in Amsterdam. I paid for the flight, the hotel — an expensive very small room — and the conference ticket, which I got on the largest discount tier because I had very little Hive Power. I spoke on stage about LasseCash for free.

Afterwards I walked around the venue asking people if they wanted some. When somebody said yes I wrote their username on a paper pad and put a number beside it, based on nothing but how the conversation had gone.

The day after it ended, I went home and sent the pad.

Nine people, one HiveFest, 55% of everything I gave away that entire year. All of it liquid, not staked — these were handshakes, not onboarding.

Six of the nine went on to do something with it. Two became real users for a while — one staked twenty-nine times and earned fifty-two payouts, another earned thirty-six and holds more today than I gave her. Three never touched it.

For a handshake at a conference, that was something for the future of LasseCash.

Why

Most of these people never asked for anything. Someone would leave one good comment on a post and get 10,000 LASSECASH an hour later, for a reason nobody ever explained to them.

I do not regret any of it. I built something for seven years while nearly everyone assumed it was nothing, and giving it away to strangers across the world in three seconds, for free, with no permission needed from anyone, was the part that always felt like proof the thing worked.

Verify it

Everything here comes from history.hive-engine.com for @lasseehlers, symbol LASSECASH, operations tokens_transfer and tokens_stake, filtered to outgoing transactions where the recipient is not one of my own accounts.

The record starts 2020-05-14 because that is where Hive-Engine's history for this token begins. LASSECASH launched on Steem-Engine in the summer of 2019, and the first year — including the hundred hand-airdrops I did around day one — lives on a chain I no longer have a clean way to read. So the true span is seven years and the provable span is six.

It is on chain. Check it.
