My mission in life
Hello everyone in this beautiful @ladiesofhive community. This week, the contest questions made me think about something we sometimes forget: we can have an idea of what we want for our lives without having everything figured out. We can also discover that we are much more than just one thing and that we don't have to choose a single direction to feel that we are moving forward.
1️⃣ When I think about my life and the things I would like to continue developing, one of the first things that comes to mind is my creative side. I am a design engineer, and I enjoy my profession, but I also like many other things that don't have much to do with it. I enjoy painting, crocheting, sewing, making crafts, and turning ideas in my head into something I can hold in my own hands.
For a long time, these activities have been part of my hobbies, little things I do because I enjoy them and they make me feel good. However, I have also come to realize that I would like to give them more space in my life, keep learning, and see how far I can go with them. That is why Bell Art, my small handmade stationery and crochet business, was born. It is a way to bring together some of the things I enjoy and share them beyond simply making them for myself. It doesn't mean I want to abandon my profession or that I feel I have to choose between being an engineer and being a creative person. I enjoy both sides of my life, and I believe they can coexist perfectly well. Sometimes it seems that we have to define ourselves by just one thing, as if spending time on other interests means moving away from our main path. But I don't see it that way. I believe we can grow professionally while also exploring other skills, discovering new passions, and building projects that excite us. I don't have all the answers about what my future will look like, but in a few years, I would like to look back and feel that I never stopped exploring those parts of myself simply because I thought I had to dedicate myself exclusively to one thing.
2️⃣ I don't know if I could say that I have a clearly defined purpose, one of those that can be summed up in a sentence and seems to answer every question. I think I am still discovering many things about myself and what I want to achieve. But I do know there are some things I would always like to keep present in my life. One of them is creating. I really enjoy having an idea and managing to turn it into something real. It could be a craft, a miniature book, a crochet piece, or any other project that allows me to use my imagination and my hands. I love the feeling of seeing something finished and knowing that I made it myself. Another is learning. It is difficult for me to imagine a life in which I stop discovering new things because I always find some activity that catches my attention or some skill I would like to develop. Maybe I won't master everything that interests me, but I like knowing that I can still give it a try. I also want to learn to enjoy the journey, not just the results. Sometimes we have so many responsibilities and so many things to do that we end up measuring our days by everything we manage to accomplish. Without realizing it, we can spend too much time thinking about what we still lack and too little time enjoying what we already have. For me, creating, learning, and enjoying life are not three separate goals. They complement one another. When I learn something new, I can use it to create. When I create, I discover things I still need to learn. And when I make time for the things I enjoy, I feel that I am dedicating part of my life to something I truly love doing. Perhaps my purpose isn't a single goal I must achieve someday, but rather a way of living that I can continue building little by little. For now, I want to keep growing in my profession, develop my business, discover new skills, and find time to enjoy all of it without feeling that I should always be doing something else. I don't know exactly where I will be in ten years or which of my projects will have grown or changed. But I would like to still have the curiosity to learn, the desire to create, and the ability to enjoy the little things when that time comes. In the end, I believe we don't have to become just one version of ourselves or find all the answers right away. We can also allow ourselves to change, explore, and discover our path as we walk it.
