BuzzParty Meet Hive!

London meetup 2026

Yesterday I met up with a few Hivers in London. This is my second meetup this year after Alicante in May. We met up at a local pub for lunch first where @shanibeer who organised the meetup, highlighted the loos worth checking out. She was right! 1000070068.jpg

The pub itself was nice, and it was good to see you can still get a decent lunch for under £10 in London. You can see more of the pub and our meetup from @adetorrent's post here.

After lunch, we headed over to our meeting venue. It was actually the office of a charity organisation where @shanibeer works. She had arranged access over the weekend and we had the whole place to ourselves. We could have held HiveFest here 😄 1000070070.jpg

@shanibeer even arranged tea and coffee and biscuits for us. A must at any British meeting. 1000070072.jpg

We hung around at the meeting area at one end of the office. There was a big table there, and I lay out some Hive merch I bought with me. @steevc also bought some, and together we had a good selection of items. It was popular with the others who had not been to a HiveFest before. 1000070071.jpg

There was no agenda, just casual chatting amongst a group of friends about things in general, both on and off chain, but generally off chain more, the state of things in UK, the impact of AI on life etc...

On AI, @adetorrent talked about how he gets different AIs to talk to each other and see what kind of shenanigans they get up to. He did a demo with two different AI on two mobile phones and got them to role play Ned and a disgruntled user who has lost a lot of money on Shistxxm. It was very interesting to listen to their conversation and see how they interacted. I'm going to try this as well! 1000070081.jpg

Those who know @steevc will know he's a bit of a musician. He bought along a synthesiser as @nicklewis who was originally going to join us is into synthesisers as well. Unfortunately he couldn't make it. 1000070076.jpg

Other attendees included @shanibeer of course. @davidthompson57 who I met some years ago during covid, and @alonicus whom I've had more engagement with recently and I met for the first time. He came with his wife who has a Hive account but isn't active. There were a couple of others who unfortunately couldn't make it last minute, but it was a nice turnout and I think everyone appreciated the meeting.

Of course, we had to take a group photo before we left. From left to right: @adetorrent, myself, @shanibeer, @steevc, @davidthompson57 and @alonicus.

Looks like an absolute blast of a meetup! Meeting up in person, enjoying cheap London lunch, and diving into topics like AI and music—what more could you ask for? Great photos too!

    interesting

Fun. FYI, I fly into UK on 20th Feb. Let me get over jet lag for a few days and maybe we can organise a meet after that. What did we agree on last time - was it Wells? Please let it be Wells. :P

Hive is a platform where we can meet people who share the same interests as us. We can build friendships with them, and sometimes, those friendships can even grow into close ones. It's nice how a platform like Hive can bring people together, allowing us to connect with others, share our experiences, and learn from one another despite the distance.

You got a great shot of me haha. I was deep into some tangential convo at that point 😂

  • @thekittygirl(75)· 13h

Looks like a nice, cozy group for a meetup! Not too many, so one can really talk to everyone! 🙂

  • @ph1102(79)· 13h

Good to hear that you had a good time at the meetup! I'm always sorry when I can't make it, but this time was a mission impossible for many different reasons... The place looks great; maybe the next HiveOpenDays could be organized there? Just an idea... 😃

  • @alonicus(72)· 14h

It was great to meet everyone ! I probably talked too much, but then I don't get out often 😁 I like @steevc 's idea of doing a meetup with presentations, it sounds like a really good way to focus the conversation and help us cover more Hive/crypto specific topics rather than letting the conversation meander. Or maybe we could all bring a different AI along on our phones, give them a topic and see where their conversation goes.....

A whole charity office to yourselves on a weekend beats most meetup venues, plus tea and biscuits of course. Did the merch table get any first timers thinking about a trip to HiveFest?

Looks like a lot of fun! I'm digging that portable synthesizer!

It's nice to see some fellow Hivers again, especially Adetorrent. I am still using the red hive tote bag every day. That bag is pretty convenient...I hope you had a great time...

  • It’s really nice to see everyone gathered together like this. Must have been a great time!

Somebody had a great time I guess. Sometimes, I think gathering is like a blessing for human beings where we meet different people with their experience, love & many more. !PIZZA !GLYPH

  • It sounds like a wonderful meet-up! I'm hoping to make it back to London in '27 it would be great to meet some of the crew. I think the platform needs more of these face-to-face meet-ups to rally more enthusiasm. I met up with some Hivers during my last visit in 2019 and it was the highlight of our trip. @cryptogee and his family took my wife and I around the Portobello Market and @opheliafu and her family took us to some of the museums and Kensington Park. They were so kind and generous with their time both took the better part of the entire day to hang out. Sadly, neither are active here anymore.

Looks like a great venue for future meetups if possible. Sorry I missed this one. That AI chatbot thing sounds like fun.😂👍

Such a great thing to meet Hivers in real life, I wanna have Meetup with DLMMQB and some other Pakistanis too (if they want to be a place to discuss Hive journey or own life experiencs). Hope you guys have had a great time together...

  • @wiseagent(82)· 21h

    Hivers, assemble.

Such a nice meeting, folks. It's inspiring to see this project being spread around the world.

That all worked out well. I have my issues with Wetherspoons, but they are cheap. The main venue was great and we could have big events there.

Maybe if we can get more people to come we can get some to do presentations.

Hope to see you again soon.
