Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
I already upgraded Jolius Blast to level two thanks to @iblast. I noticed that among the Arena Vanguards, Jolius is the most widely distributed probably because of intention of iblast to have the cards in as many Splinterlands as possible.
What Level Two Does
At level two, Jolius gains the powerful Enrage ability. It increases his speed and melee attack by 50% when his health is decreased. This means that his attack will go up to five while his speed goes to six with Barthalamas archon. This gives him an indirect defense against physical attacks because his chance to evade attacks increase. Combine this with his Void ability against magic attack and his high health and he has a high survivability as a tank.
Featured Battles
Battle 1 - High Mana
This is a battle that fits Jolius well. There are no armor that Jolius does not have and the mana cap is high. I put him in first position and in second was his buddy, Buns the Unseen. In hindsight, maybe I should have used Chaos Furybringer because the battle ruleset removed Buns the Unseen's eight armor. Then my team was followed by an all range damage dealers.
The enemy almost used the same team but he had the stock dual tank combo of Frankarsgard and Chaos Furybringer. He also had a Taunt unit in last.
Jolius gave me some advantage because of his high health that allowed him to survive longer but I may have had some disadvantage in position two card because Furybringer dealt more damage than Buns. Still, the battle went in my favor.
Battle 2 - Low Mana
Jolius Blast with thirteen mana is also good in low mana battles provided the ruleset favors him. In this battle, the ruleset included Collateral Damage where his high health and increase in speed will help against enemy attacks. The enemy used the Life splinter where their armor will protect them against some hits. Jolius evaded some attacks which helped him stay in battle longer while dealing five melee damage of his own. This allowed my team to win the battle proving Jolius can play in low mana battles.
