Hello Splinterlands warriors and welcome back to my blog!
It's a new season in Splinterlands and I continue with my daily grind in the Frontier and Modern modes. I'm particularly motivated to play in Modern because I'm building my legendary deck that I've shown in my last post. My goal is to have them all at level two which is the maximum level of legendary cards in the Silver Bracket. So far, these are my legendary cards in my deck and their levels.
I would like to have Azhar Ibn Sulaim at level two where his speed bumps up to eight and he will gain Backfire. It's an ability that counterattacks with two damage when an enemy misses. It works well with speed that increases the chance to dodge physical attacks. Coupled with his Taunt ability, he will be a great addition to my strategies.
In today's post, I'll show one of my battles in Modern mode where I try to accumulate glints that I can use to buy legendary chests.
Featured Battle
The battle had Ferocity ruleset so I avoided my usual strategy of using Taunt units. It also had a new ruleset, Power of Eight which gives a speed buff and two armor to units that cost eight mana. I used the Earth archon in this battle and the rest of my units are as follows.
Quilliun Legionary
Eight mana tank that will benefit fromt he ruleset. Quilliun Legionary is a good anti melee and anti magic tank because of his Thorns and Void abilities. He does decent damage and has good defense.
Thanalorian Blade
Thanalorian Blade is the assassin that hunts the enemy's low health units with Opportunity ability.
Grove Doomblade
Grove Doomblade deals a huge five melee damage and has Sneak and Stun abilities. Her disadvantage is her slow speed stat but it's worth it when she hits her target.
Bren Palesworn
Bren Palesworn is another elf that will have Execute ability from the archon. He has dual attack of range and melee. With sneak ability, he can combo with Grove Doomblade to hit the enemy's rear units.
Forlorn Geomant
Forlorn Geomant is a giant with huge five magic attack. Similar to Grove Doomblade, his disadvantage is his slow speed stats though it doesn't matter because few units can dodge magic attacks.
Aranduriel
Aranduriel is another elf unit with Sneak ability. With three units having Sneak, my focus of attack is the enemy's rear while my tanks try to defend the front line.
The enemy had a strong team led by the legendary Dragonlord Mancer archon. It's attackers are magic units including level two Calamity and Portia Nyr. Normally I'd lose to this team but this time my strategy of hitting the rear worked. My team decimated the enemy's damage dealers from the back while Quilliun Legionary did a decent job holding the front.
It was a satisfying victory over a stronger and more expensive team.
