I am glad to announce that the book chosen for the next KBK Bookclub meeting is "Snows of Kilimanjaro" by Ernest Hemingway.
The BookClub meeting shall take place at @krolestwo on the 12th of September 2026 starting at 18.00. The discussion will be held in either Polish or English depending on the language skills of the participants, but you are free to read the book in whatever language suits you best.
I must disclose that the winning book was selected after substantial lobbying efforts were made by @vinece to let her book win despite having been submitted after the deadline. Even though no monetary bribe was offered (at least to me), I complied with @vinece's illegal request of allowing the proposal to stand and even voted for it myself, thus cementing the outcome. On top of me, @czyzu and @michaledmund also contributed to the illegality of the action, although it can be argued that voting late after the deadline is over does not amount to an infraction, whereas counting them as valid votes is indeed questionable.
All to say that I am perfectly aware of the illegality of my own actions. I do not hide myself. Should anyone oppose the decision, a court hearing can be established at @krolestwo, on a date and time set by @hallmann.
Another proposal (this one within the deadline) was made by @wayward-dreams on behalf of Mr Sergiusz Antonowicz: Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. It received two preferences by @wayward-dreams and @eugenegal
