To talk about rock is to start a conversation that has no beginning and no end, since there is much debate about which song marked the beginning of this genre. No one knows for sure, but some historians agree that it began around 1949, and according to the website concepto.de, the precursor to this genre was:
“Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a gospel singer and guitarist who, between the 1930s and 1940s, incorporated electric guitars and rhythms that foreshadowed the emergence of rock and roll…” For more information, visit aquí
From that moment on, a movement took root that shook the world; believe it or not, that’s exactly what happened: the young people of that era used this rhythm to express their anxieties and frustrations with a society that had become too confining for them. They wanted to voice and demonstrate their dissent regarding politics, freedom of expression, protest, love, social struggles, and the peace they so longed for.
With an electric guitar, bass, and drums, this music took hold and turned the world upside down. It was here to stay, and from that point on, many bands, groups, and solo artists began writing song lyrics and adapting them to this rhythm. It was my idol, Elvis Presley, who propelled rock ’n’ roll into the mainstream in 1954 with Arthur Crudup’s song, “That’s All Right,” spreading the genre throughout the United States.
From there, many bands emerged, and soon the whole world embraced this genre, with many variations and the creation of subgenres. And don’t even get me started—rock is like the story of the bald rooster; it will never end. It took off especially in a famous city known as Liverpool, where John, Paul, George, and Ringo formed the band The Beatles, kicking off Beatlemania. There are countless successful rock groups and bands—too many for me to even begin to name them all.
Spanish-speaking countries weren’t left behind; they, too, joined this golden age, and it was in 1982 in Buenos Aires, with the formation of Soda Stereo, that the genre really took off. For @pablo1601, talking about rock in Latin America means talking about Cerati and Soda Stereo. “Without a doubt, this band marked a turning point in the history of Argentine rock.”
Starting on this date, Gustavo Cerati, Zeta Bosio, and Charly Alberti helped popularize rock music in Argentina. The website www.cmtv.com.ar states:

Gustavo Cerati, the lead singer of this famous Argentine band, passed away on September 4, 2014. He was the frontman and lead singer of Soda Stereo; he left a legacy for future generations. He began his musical career at a young age. Today, in tribute to Gustavo Cerati, I’m sharing three famous songs by the Argentine band Soda Stereo with @ablaze and #ThreeTuneTuesday.

Hablar del rock es iniciar una tertulia que no tiene inicio ni fin, pues hay muchas controversias sobre la canción que dio inicio a este género. Para más información visite aquí A partir de este momento se originó un movimiento que estremeció al mundo; aunque no lo crean, así fue, los jóvenes de esa época en este ritmo expresaron sus angustias y frustraciones frente a una sociedad que les quedaba pequeña. Deseaban expresar y manifestar su inconformidad en contra de la política, libertad de expresión, la protesta, el amor, las luchas sociales y la paz tan anhelada. Con una guitarra eléctrica, bajo y la batería, esta música se impuso y puso patas arriba al mundo. Llegó para quedarse y muchas bandas, grupos, solistas a partir de esta fecha comenzaron a escribir letras de canciones y adaptarlas a este ritmo. Siendo mi amor Elvis Presley, quien impulsa el rock de manera comercial en el año 1954 con la canción de Arthur Crudup, conocida como “That’s All Right”. Esparciendo este género en los Estados Unidos. A partir de allí aparecieron muchas bandas y después todo el planeta incursionó en este género, con muchas variaciones y se crearon subgéneros. As time goes by, we change as people; some will come to understand the true meaning of life, while others may not. However, we must never stop dreaming, even if our age tells us otherwise. I think the key is to stop rushing and stressing out. We need to accept that we should live more calmly and, perhaps most importantly, never forget ourselves and what we need to stay balanced. Above all, keep smiling as life goes by.
Never forget what has made us happy: an unforgettable moment, a song, a poem, a story, an anecdote—everything that reaffirms that we have lived and enjoyed life. Perhaps some people are afraid of living at our age; however, it doesn’t have to be that way. Every sunrise is a challenge; I believe we should be grateful for a new chance at life and take advantage of moments of quiet solitude to reflect on the decisions we make.
As Cerati said: “Silence is not wasted time.” The years have made me more reflective, and I’ve come to understand that life is worth living. Music has helped me stay connected to myself and keeps my mind active—humming songs and dancing alone. Today I woke up to the beat of rock with Soda Stereo and Gustavo Cerati. I’m enjoying a song; I don’t know if it’s their biggest hit, but for me, it’s the band’s most iconic track. “De música ligera” was released in 1990 on the album Canción animal.

Who said it was music for adults? It’s great rock—music that never goes out of style. It still gets us moving and brings back memories of good times.
In memory of you, my unforgettable friend Gustavo Cerati, for leaving us a legacy of love for life. And to my dear friend @pablo1601, with all my love—he helped me select the songs, because if it were up to me, I’d include them all, since each one is filled with love and profound, thought-provoking messages, and choosing just a few was very difficult.

A medida que pasa el tiempo, vamos cambiando nuestra manera de ser; algunos lograrán entender el verdadero significado de la vida, otras quizás no. Sin embargo, nunca hay que dejar de soñar, aunque la edad nos diga lo contrario. Creo que lo que hay es que dejar de correr y de estresarse. Asimilar que hay que vivir más calmados y, quizás lo más importante, nunca olvidarnos de nosotros y de lo que necesitamos para estar en equilibrio. Sobre todo, seguir sonriendo mientras pasa la vida.
Nunca olvidar lo que nos ha hecho feliz: un momento inolvidable, una canción, un poema, una historia, una anécdota; todo lo que nos reafirme que hemos vivido y disfrutado. Quizás algunos tengan miedo de vivir a nuestra edad; sin embargo, no tiene por qué serasí. Cada amanecer es un desafío; creo que hay que dar gracias por una nueva oportunidad de vida y aprovechar los momentos de silencio a solas para reflexionar sobre las decisiones que tomamos. Como dijo Cerati: “El silencio no es tiempo perdido." Los años me han hecho más reflexiva y he entendido que la vida vale la pena. La música me ha ayudado a no olvidarme y me permite mantener mi mente activa, tarareando canciones y bailando sola. Hoy amanecí al ritmo del rock con Soda Stereo y Gustavo Cerati.
