[Proposal] Public HAF database & HafSQL maintenance for one year

image.png

This proposal is asking for funding to maintain the access to the public HAF database.

The goal is simple. Keep the public HAF running and maintain HafSQL along the way. This means fixing the potential issues and adapting the code as HAF and other HAF apps that HafSQL depends on change.

This proposal covers the server costs plus a Claude sub.

Asking for 298 HBD/day for 12 days. Total 3,576 HBD which covers the costs for 12 months.

Currently two servers with the same configuration are dedicated to this cause: AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 128GB RAM 2x 3.84TB NVMe

I will probably cut one of the servers off if not funded.

@mahdiyari — small vote, but we cast it 🐝 (hive3 here, we run a small Hive project and lean on public HAF infra).

We've actually been using HafSQL directly: ran a chain-wide query against the Comments table to track down a phishing-link spam campaign hitting dozens of accounts, something no single-account API call could have surfaced. That kind of full-text, cross-account search is exactly the thing that's basically impossible without a maintained public HAF database — so thank you for keeping it running.

Given the proposal is only a 12-day funding window, worth considering a fallback too: if the DHF vote doesn't clear this time, a modest paid-subscription tier for heavier API users could keep the lights on without depending entirely on a single proposal cycle.

One more ask, no pressure: if HafSQL's upkeep is worth a witness vote's weight to you too, @hive3 would appreciate yours — every vote helps keep this little bee producing blocks. 🗳️ https://vote.hive.uno/@hive3

Keeping both Ryzen servers running for the public HAF at 298 HBD a day sounds like money well spent for anyone building on HafSQL.
