The memory I’m sharing with you today is a lovely family moment from a very rainy afternoon. We were celebrating the upcoming arrival of a new family member, as my cousin’s wife was pregnant and a baby shower had been organized for her. The party was supposed to be held at a country estate, but it had rained heavily; the sky was quite overcast and it was very cold—well, haha, cold by the standards of a tropical country like mine (Venezuela). Even so, the sun was shining intensely through the pale clouds, which is why I was wearing sunglasses. The estate was beautiful, featuring lush greenery, a swimming pool that really only tempted the children, and a spacious ballroom where the typical party games took place later on, followed by family members and friends showing off their best dance moves 😊.
El que les voy a compartir hoy es un precioso recuerdo familiar de una tarde muy lluviosa, estábamos celebrando la pronta venida de un miembros más de la familia, ya que la esposa de mi primo estaba embarazada y le organizaron un Baby Shower. La fiesta sería en una finca pero había llovido muchísimo, así que el cielo estaba bastante nublado y hacía mucho frio, bueno jaja para los estándares de un país tropical como el mío (Venezuela) Sian embargo el sol brillaba con intensidad a través de las pálidas nubes y por eso llevaba lentes. La finca era preciosa, tenía mucha vegetación, una piscina que realmente solo tentó a los niños y un amplio salón de baile donde más tarde se hicieron las típicas actividades de estos festejos y después algunos miembro de la familia y amigos sacaron sus mejores pasos de baile 😊
Later on, I did warm up and took off my coat to go explore the property a bit more. Generally speaking, I haven't always enjoyed being in touch with nature—though I do like it now and then, provided it’s during the day; once night falls, especially after heavy rain, rural areas tend to see the emergence of creatures I—sorry to say—consider unwelcome, such as reptiles and amphibians.
Más tarde sí que entré en calor y me quité el abrigo para ir a explorar un poquito más la propiedad. Por lo general no siempre me ha gustado estar en contacto con la naturaleza, pero sí de vez en cuando, aunque solo durante el día porque cuando llega la noche y ha llovido mucho, en las zonas rurales suelen aparecer animales que, lo siento pero yo considero indeseables, como reptiles y batracios
We really had a great time that day, with all the activities, games, and dancing. Of course, I was also delighted to see people I hadn't seen in ages—some had left the country and since returned—and I met new people who were friends of my cousin (the dad-to-be). I had a lot of fun, especially watching my cousins join in, since I’m not really into participating in games and things like that myself, haha. 😄
Realmente la pasamos muy bien ese día, en medio de actividades, juegos, bailes y desde luego también me complació mucho ver a personas a las que yo no veía desde hacía muchísimo tiempo, algunos habían salido del país y después regresaron, también conocí personas nuevas que eran amistades de mi primo (el papá del bebé que venía en camino). Me divertí bastante pero sobre todo viendo a mis primas participar porque a mi no me gusta mucho participar en juegos y esas cosas jaja 😄
You can probably tell from the look on my face that the party was over; it was late and we were tired. My cousin—who was our ride home—was taking forever to pick us up (because the GPS he was using to navigate while dropping off another group of guests had malfunctioned). During that time—it was nearly midnight—the power went out at the venue, and I was terrified that one of the animals I mentioned earlier in this post might show up 😄. Fortunately, the staff got the generator running and the power came back on shortly after. However, that wasn't my biggest worry; my sister had come home from work without her key, so she was stuck outside the whole time we were waiting for my cousin. Luckily, she was able to take shelter in our car until we finally arrived.
Por mi cara ya pueden intuir que la fiesta había terminado, era tarde y estábamos cansados, ya que mi primo (que era nuestro transporte en ese momento) e estaba tardando demasiado en buscarnos (era porque el GPS que él estaba usando para ubicarse mientras llevaba a un grupo de invitados se había averiado) y durante todo ese tiempo (ya cerca de medianoche) se fue la luz en el lugar donde estábamos y yo temía que nos apareciera un animal de los que mencioné en párrafos anteriores de este post 😄 pero afortunadamente los encargados hicieron el generador eléctrico y poco tiempo después llegó la luz, per todo lo que les estoy diciendo no era la mayor de mis preocupaciones, sino que mi hermana había llegado a casa del trabajo y no se había llevado la llave consigo, así que se quedó afuera durante todo ese tiempo que estábamos esperando a que mi primo fuese a buscarnos, afortunadamente ella pudo refugiarse dentro de nuestro carro hasta que finalmente llegamos.
