I love this topic so much, and I'm sure it is one a lot of us will have our different opinions about. For me, I would say it depends on how far it goes. Yeah, jealousy can be love, and it can be insecurity too; it just depends.
I happen to be a jealous person, yeah, and I won't even lie; it's just that I'm not overly jealous. And there's no way someone would tell me they're not the jealous type either, except if such a person doesn't have a thing or someone that they truly cherish and genuinely care about. When you love someone, you will naturally feel the need to protect them and stand up for them, and, for example, when you're in a relationship and you find someone else, most especially the other gender, getting too close to your partner, it is just so normal for you to feel uncomfortable because that person is your lover and someone you really value. And that is jealousy doing its thing there.

The Bible itself made us to know that our God is a jealous God, it makes it clear that being jealous isn't a bad thing, you only means something is valuable and special special to you. And in as much as I agree that being jealous is not bad, too much of it is bad; that is what eventually leads to control.
You know, just like the example I cited earlier about the person you're in a relationship with getting too close to someone else, while trying to address it, it may come in two ways, and one shows you're jealous and at the same time loving, while the other shows you're overly jealous and at the same time controlling. The first says, "I don't like how close this person is getting to you," and the other says, "This person is getting too close to you; I no longer want to see you talk to them again." You see how that sounds.
Someone like me loves to ask questions and hold onto whatever you tell me, while we have some people who wouldn't stop at that; they can go to the extent of asking people who are close to you about that same thing or even checking your phone, messages, and everything.

In short, we all know too much of everything is bad. Yeah, don't be overly jealous. A little jealousy is okay; make sure to put it under check. Don't cross the thin line separating it from being controlling and overly jealous. That little bit of jealousy makes your partner happy and shows them that you actually care for them and that you don't take the relationship for granted, but when it becomes too much and you start controlling and restricting them from various things, then it's safe to call it insecurity, and such a relationship is already on its way to being a very toxic one.
In conclusion, just like I said earlier, I'm a jealous guy, and I would ask you questions and let you know when something bothers me, but not to the extent where you start feeling like I don't love or trust you anymore. Jealousy is good, but too much of it can and will destroy that same thing you feel you are only trying to keep/protect.
