If you're looking to watch a very funny, relatable, emotional, heartfelt, cool, and, at the same time, very interesting movie, just give Introducing the Kujus a watch. It is a very, very interesting Nigerian movie. Introducing the Kujus is about five siblings who aren't that close after the loss of their mom.
But along the line, one of them who's named Mausi, she felt it's high time everyone becomes a big large family once again. And together with the help of one of their brothers, Maugbe, she was able to make everyone come together once again. Even though it wasn't easy, they made it happen.
The interesting part is that none of them really wanted to come back home, to badagry and they have their reasons, of which it is so that they wouldn't have to face the the same old issues that separated them before. But then, this coming together happened, and when it did and they all came together once again, what they feared began to find its way out again.
But then, I love how that despite all that happened, they were able to find their way back together and understand that at the end of the day, they're still family. And to be honest with you, I very much envisioned none of that before giving the movie a watch. Even the title didn't make me think towards that direction. But then, it didn't take long before I finally realized what the movie was all about. It consists of different things: a touch of pride, anger, stubbornness, competition, and a lot more. More like typical stuff that could be seen in a family.
I actually have a favorite character in this movie, and that is Mausi. You know, she really wanted to bring the family back together, and I really gave her kudos for that. She tried; she found ways to reach out to each one of the siblings and make sure they all came home and all of that. This is not to add that I'm encouraging lies, but then, she did tell some hilarious lies that we can say were helpful in bringing each person over.
It was when everyone finally came together that the film became more deep. Everyone has one wound or the other that they're carrying inside of them; another interesting part is that the story or version of everyone's story is different, and no one was even interested in listening, let alone understanding each other.
The movie really showed what family problems could look like. And talk of the dinner scene towards the end too. I thought it was just going to be a meal and that will be the end, but then, that meal, that dinner turned out to be where each one of them was able to speak out their mind.
And the cast, trust them to do well. Talk of Timini, Bisola, Femi, Ronke, Kunle, Bimbo, and the like. And like always, the movie isn't perfect; it is not a 100/100. But then, it was worth it. They all gave in their best and killed their roles. Yeah, I love how they all showed what a family can look like, who that there will always be issues, misunderstandings and all in a family, but then at the end of the day, we're still family and should always find ways to settle it and come back together.
