A Little Skill, A Lot of Satisfaction

Everyone has one or more things they are good at doing , and they also find passion in doing them without being forced. Sometimes, we might not do them as perfect as professionals, but at least we still get things done without paying someone else. Some of these things are also cheaper when we do them ourselves, and this will also help us to save money. That is one interesting part of DIY, and for me, doing things myself goes beyond saving money, but the joy that comes with creating something with my own hands is really satisfying.

There are quite some few things I can do myself at home and most of them are things I learned on my own, whenever I try them out,the results are surprisingly good most times.

One of the things I can do myself is baking. I remember the day I decided to bake bread for the first time. Of course, I was really skeptical about how it will turn out because I have not done it before. I kept wondering if I’m going to get the measurements right , and I don’t know if the bread will come out well. You know that feeling when you try something new, and it does not work out? Honestly, It can feel like you have wasted your money, but I’m glad that my bread turned out really good.

What surprised me about the whole baking was the quality of the bread after I baked it. It was pretty good In terms of taste, texture, and freshness. Honesty, I found the bread even better than some of the bread I usually buy outside. Although baking bread is not something I can do all the time because it takes time and you know, I can get busy with other responsibilities, but it is something I know I will definitely do whenever I have the opportunity. I also make cupcakes, though I am still working on getting them just right. I’m not really perfect with it.

Another thing I can do myself is making of homemade snacks and pastries. I can make puff-puff, buns, chin-chin, pies, and doughnuts. I really love the process of getting all these things done. Sometimes, I even prefer what I make myself at home to what I buy from professionals. Knowing that I can make all these snacks myself means that I will not always have to spend money buying them whenever I crave to have them. The only thing is just to get to the kitchen and make the magic happen:)

Cooking is another thing I absolutely love. Honestly, I can be tired and still find myself wanting to prepare something delicious in the kitchen. I love trying new recipes and making experimenting with different ingredients. Sometimes, If I come across a recipe that catches my attention, and I love what I see, of course I’m always eager to try it out. You know that feeling when you try a certain recipe and the food turns out to be delicious even more than you expected? The feeling is priceless:)

Of course, I don’t get everything right every time, but I believe there is always room to improve. I’m not expecting to be perfect with things I do, but I know the more I’m consistent with doing it, the more I understand what works and what doesn’t.

I will always love doing things myself, especially when they are things I enjoy doing. And when I try new things with the little skills I have, and it turns out good, I feel as though I have hit a jackpot. Even if I have enough money to pay professionals, I will still love to do my baking, making my snacks, and cooking myself whenever I have the time. Personally, I feel like DIY doesn’t mean that someone is trying to avoid expenses, but it’s all about discovering my abilities, learning new and getting better at what I do.

Baking is the one thing I haven’t had time to learn. It’s really a skill every one must have.
