- Cassava is also one of the Major food that can be given to grasscutter and they also utilize this even when they are in the woods. There are some crops that can go a very long way when you feed your grass cutter although some may be harmful to them if it is being consumed in large quantity. Some plants such as cassava and the tubers can be given when it is being cut or harvested for some few days or hours. This has gone far in reducing the acid in it.
Acid in grasscutter food should be minimized. Yes we can say that when they are in the wood they can eat a lot of things on their own but when they are domesticated you need to monitor their food and their feed. Or else they will grow stuntly or they will grow what is called blunts. This literally means that in few days they may die off. So the cassava can be cut off this way and leave for few hours or 24 hours which means a day before you give it to your animals.
- This is the cassava that is grown purposely for food but because the grass cutter can also feed on it it goes a long way as well. So after cutting it I leave it for more than 8 hours for the leaves and the stem to reduce it moisture content
After cutting the cassava stem this was how it looks like. Some farmers may give them as it is as fresh as it is but it is not recommended. Although we have different ways and approach to our animals. But this is how I give my animals.
You can see that the leaves also seems changing its color. It does not means that it is not useful to feed the animals. It is great this way.
This was when the cassava stem and the leaves was administered to the grasscutter at different sections. It can be given to them very early in the morning or afternoon or late at night, depending on when you are available.
with my own little experience the grass cutter love to chew the stem instead of making it a way to consume the wooden cage.
It can be done and apply with other food attached to it. This is what I mean you can give them the plant instead with the cassava stem jointly. It has no effect on them. More also, you must clean their cages as soon as possible.
