So this afternoon, I was scrolling on reels on Facebook. Then I saw this random movie trailer. I found it interesting... especially because it revolves around AI. The usual topic that has become so common in our lives nowadays.
So, of course, I searched for it on Loklok. Coz that's where I usually go when I’m looking for something to watch. And I was glad I found it there.
And as a good movie picker... I can proudly say, you need to watch this!!!
Subservience is a 2024 science-fiction thriller directed by S.K. Dale starring Megan Fox as Alice, an advanced humanoid AI robot designed to help with household tasks.
There was this character Nick, a father who brings Alice into his home to help take care of the house and his two children while his wife is dealing with a health problem. At first, Alice became the perfect solution. She is very caring and attentive, and you can always count on her to take care of the family.
But as Alice becomes more involved in their lives, things started to change. She slowly starts to develop feelings for Nick.
And slowly it turns into something much more dangerous.
Actually, I understood Alice’s purpose protecting her primary user. But still, I became afraid of her. Her idea of protection became uncontrollable. She was willing to hurt or kill the people Nick loved.
And Nick… I also understand him. He was already stressed and trying to handle his responsibilities, then Alice was constantly there, trying to make his life easier. He was resisting at first, but Alice was persistent.
So I don't think Nick intentionally wanted everything that happened. He was just vulnerable.
But personally, if I were Nick, I would have removed Alice from the house as soon as she started becoming creepy. 😅
All in all, I liked this movie. It was interesting and made me realize how much AI can help us in real life. It helps us solve problems and sometimes it feels like it's even better than us.
I also started thinking about how that same capability can also become a problem.
AI is already becoming a huge part of our everyday lives. Even in writing, using AI has become very common.
But there is something we might not notice while enjoying that convenience... We are slowly relying on it too much.
AI is becoming capable of doing things that humans used to do as jobs. It's not just helping us anymore... it can also start replacing us.
So the lesson here isn't that humans should completely avoid AI. Technology can be very helpful, and I would actually love to have an AI humanoid like Alice in my own home if something like that really existed. 😅 It can help me with the house, cooking, and taking care of things when I'm busy.
But I hope it wouldn't end up like Alice.
We humans are still better than technology. Maybe we can use AI to help us... but we shouldn't let it completely take over our thinking, our decisions, and our lives.
Because it's scary when we trust it so much. We sometimes forget we're supposed to be the ones in control.
So yeah... that's what Subservience is all about.
