Hummus

Ai has become my go to partner in the kitchen. It is quicker and easier to use than any cookbook.

This time it was used to make hummus, which is easily available in the grocery store, but it turns out that making it at home is as much as 60% cheaper.

Hummus is a creamy Middle Eastern dip made mainly from blended cooked chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame paste), fresh lemon juice, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil.

Core Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans
  • Tahini
  • Lemon Juice
  • Garlic
  • Olive Oil & Cold Water:

Pro-Tips for Perfect Homemade Hummus

  • Ice Water Trick: Blend your tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and salt first, then drip in ice-cold water while blending. This whipped emulsion is the secret to an ultra-light, pale, and fluffy texture.
  • Warm the Chickpeas: If using canned chickpeas, simmer them in water with a dash of baking soda for 10 minutes to soften the skins before blending.

Recipe from Gemini

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Yield: ~2 cups Ingredients 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained 1/2 tsp baking soda (for boiling) 1/3 cup good quality tahini 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon) 1 small garlic clove, minced 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp fine salt (adjust to taste) 2–3 tbsp ice-cold water Extra virgin olive oil & paprika (for serving)

Soften the Chickpeas Removes tough skins for maximum smoothness Place the rinsed chickpeas in a small saucepan, cover with water, and add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes until the skins are falling off and the beans are soft and mushy. Drain thoroughly and let cool slightly. 2 Whip the Base Creates a creamy emulsion before adding beans In a high-powered food processor or blender, combine the tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, and salt. Process for 1 full minute until thick, pale, and thoroughly whipped. 3 Blend in Chickpeas and Ice Water Add the softened chickpeas to the food processor. Puree Add the softened chickpeas to the food processor. Puree while slowly drizzling in 2 to 3 tablespoons of ice-cold water. Continue blending for 2 to 3 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until completely smooth and fluffy.

4 Garnish and Serve Spread the hummus into a shallow bowl using the back of a spoon to create swoops. Drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with paprika or fresh parsley.

I've yet to create an Ai recipe that I didn't enjoy.! The directions and tips are easy to understand. Ai has made my time in the kitchen more efficient.

Seeing this recipe, increased my craving to this food. I was in MiddleEast for quiet some time and most often cooked this, goes well with Arabic bread. Kudos to your tips of ice water, as its a new tip for me.

Looks so good. I never tried making this one. Maybe someday when I can find the ingredients somewhere around here, I'd love to try it. I never used tahini before, it'll be interesting, fun and yum.

I tried finding a good quality brand of tahini in our supermarket but could not find one to make my own and save money. So, I often end up buying hummus online, which is expensive. I guess hummus is not yet that popular in my country. 😅

The plating is chef's kiss. 😋

Ehhh, why that really easy and with just a few steps only. So it is a dip, can we also eat it with bread like some kind of spread? Or was it just for veggies?

Wow, the AI is already helping you in the kitchen. That's cool! And I see broccoli on your table! And today I ate cauliflower. I'm going to cook beans tomorrow.

Wow, so AI can be used to learn how to prepare certain delicacies! That's great to learn; I'll try it out

A delicious dish. We make it often at home because we love chickpeas. We usually buy them dried and need to cook them, but the first step is to soak them in salted water for 8 hours, generally overnight. Then we rinse them and cook them. Madrid-style stew is my favorite, but it's also very good with cod or just with vegetables. Of course, a pressure cooker is highly recommended.

    Enjoy!

  • Thanks for the recipe. I hadn't really thought much about using an AI agent to help me in the kitchen.

I do remember using a query once to ask about an ingredient substitution in a recipe, but it hadn't occurred to me to ask for a complete recipe. This gives me ideas for future queries. Perhaps you could provide me with some interesting recipes or creative ideas for using ingredients.

It looks absolutely delicious and refreshing, something worth trying. Hopefully, I can find the ingredients.

This is one of the good uses of AI that actually helps us. Home cooking skills are sadly on the decline amongst younger people. I tend to only eat hummus when on holiday somewhere exotic 🤔😂👍

  • Great looking hummus. We always have some in our fridge. Usually Trader Joe's. Its one of the things they do well and at a good price. My youngest son roasts chick peas and eats them as a snack. He's a healthy kid lol but they are good with some seasoning. You can go alot of different ways with the seasoning.

That’s a great idea! Homemade hummus sounds easy, fresh, and much cheaper too. 😊 I might have to try making it at home! 🧆✨
