As hot as the West Indies

I never imagined my night to end with anal pain... but I swiftly grabbed my right cheek and made a sudden thrust up. Two wings flapped beside my feet, as if teasing me, saying, "Next time, don't be so delicious." In a panic, I killed it. You see, I'm allergic to bee stings and thought that maybe a bee had mistaken my butt for a honey bun, but it turned out to be just an audacious wasp.

It's the season, I guess... and me being made in Jamaica, I'm a lover of higher temperatures, but I have to accept that there's always a trade-off.

Just earlier that day, I was travelling at peak hour on a train with a broken air conditioner. For some unexplainable reason, the train came to a sudden halt just 2 minutes away from my connecting station. The driver apologised profusely, saying that "he was waiting for an available platform." In the heat of the moment, everything sounds like horseshit, and a few passengers threatened to open the doors or smash a few windows.

It was 15 minutes of hell. Zero ventilation in 32°C weather. We were sweating like pigs in what felt like a steaming sauna, and I thought we were all going to pass out.

One guy was whimpering to a mate on his phone, which appeared to be his calming mechanism.

I felt a nosebleed coming on, which I knew was a combination of lack of oxygen and panic, because I'm claustrophobic. I took deep breaths, held my thumb and index finger together as a calming hand mudra, and I quietly said a few 'oms.' It worked. I regained my composure.

From my peripheral vision, I saw the sweat glisten on a muscular, good-looking guy sitting in an aisle seat across from me. The water running down his arms radiated like light off his body, and in that moment, I thought that in the event of my having to perform CPR or mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, he'd be the closest one and the first call to action [in case of emergency].

It was just a close call, and I think the train got moving right in the nick of time...

Things do happen in split seconds, and you never know what awaits.

I was relieved to be back on my boat, a lot earlier than I'd anticipated my day to go. I even took a cold shower, something that I never do. I put on a loose dress, drank a glass of cold water, and sat down on my couch... and I squinted my ass muscles in pain.

6.jpg

The bump and swelling are still there, where the sun doesn't shine, and I tossed the dead wasp away.

Although I was a tad bit annoyed and in pain, the next day, I randomly snapped these photos, which I liked. They were candid, and the authentic look and mood of them made them ideal for both colour and black and white. I also believed that they aligned with my moment of contemplation on a dreadful experience, which I turned into a humorous moment.

Happy weekend, peeps. :)

All the images were taken by me.

😂 Hopefully all of that is behind you now. And the image that hits hardest out of all the ones you describe is the muscular young guy in desperate need of a resuscitation technique 🤣... I hope you're doing well. Lately I haven’t been getting here early enough to comment on everything I want to in Hive. Issues...

This made me laugh right out loud, @millycf1976. I'm so glad the bite wasn't a bee! (I assume wasps have different venom and you're not similarly allergic?)

So good of you to be prepared to give that guy on the train mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!

    every cloud and that 😁

Truly horrible when air conditioning isn't working on trains, very, very uncomfortable.

What is it with the heating or cooling on trains the other day the train to Exeter had the heaters going full blast on a warm sunny day, I wanted a train ride not 20 minutes in a sauna.

  • @qwerrie(78)· 408d

    BW are far better 😎

  • @sofathana(76)· 408d

That beginning certainly makes one stay reading until the end! 😆

  • @melan11e(67)· 408d

You definitely had a day to remember, though not exactly for the best reasons. You made me laugh with the “honey bun” thing 😂and the bold wasp, although I imagine at the time it wasn't that funny. And those photos are gorgeous, very cute.💕

  • @repayme4568(70)· 408d

I like it that you turned the dreadful moment into humourous moment, as it doesn't feels nice to think about something that is dreadful. Those photos are superb. Regard.

  • @leaky20(79)· 408d

That train ride sounds dreadful. A hellish nightmare.

Too bad about the wasp sting, but good thing it wasn't a bee.
