I tried to check out Where the Heart Is, and it is an interesting movie about a young woman whose life did not go as she planned.
The movie was about Novalee Nation (Natalie Portman). She was pregnant and travelling with her boyfriend Willy Jack (Dylan Bruno. On their way, they stopped at a Walmart store, where Willy Jack left her behind and continued his journey without her.
Novalee had no money, no place to stay, and a baby on the way. She eventually started living secretly inside the store until she gave birth to her baby girl, Americus.
Honestly, I felt bad for Novalee because she was left to face everything alone at a time when she needed help the most. Being pregnant was already enough stress, but having to worry about where to sleep and what to eat made things even harder for her.
Things started changing when she met people who were willing to help her. She made friends who cared about her and her baby. Sister Husband, played by Stockard Channing, and Lexie Coop, played by Ashley Judd, were among the people who became part of her life. They showed her kindness when she had very little to offer in return.
One thing I liked about the movie was how Novalee slowly picked herself up. Her life was not perfect, and she still had problems to deal with, but she kept going. It was also nice to see how people she barely knew became closer to her than the man who had promised to be there for her.
Willy Jack's behaviour annoyed me because he abandoned Novalee without thinking about what would happen to her and their baby. I kept wondering how someone could leave a pregnant woman in such a situation and just walk away.
The movie also had some funny and sweet moments, so it was not all sadness from beginning to end. I enjoyed watching Novalee meet new people, build friendships, and find her place in the world.
Generally Where the Heart Is is a good movie, and I enjoyed the story. It showed how life can take an unexpected turn and how help can come from people we never expected. I also liked that Novalee's story did not end with her being abandoned. She had the chance to start again and find happiness.
