Facing My Fear.

Since I was a child, I used to get scared of everything; in fact, I could remember going to a competition, and I started crying just because of the fact that I'm scared of the person there. I couldn't control myself, and when I started growing up, I still got scared. I remembered very well. In my secondary school days, I didn't get attached to anyone; I was always on my lane. Even with that, there was a day a guy slapped me because I was sitting on his seat; that was when I realized that I need to get rid of this fear in me.

I realized I couldn't even stand in front of many people and make a speech; I will

be shaking. I put all this together, and I decided to learn taekwondo to eradicate all my fears and learn some discipline, self-control, and self-awareness. I started learning, but it's never an easy thing to overcome. I could remember when I started I was always shy, and when it was time to spare, I would always make excuses for it.

I found someone that understands me, and I tried sparing more and more; little by little I can stand in and fight during sparring sessions. After some time of learning, it is then time for proper competition, and that will be my first competition ever, but I was very scared; the more I remember the competition, the more I get scared. The day of the competition, I saw a lot of people in the competition and that made me scared a lot, especially when they were shouting during the competition.

But then, I summon my courage that whatever will happen today will eventually happen. So I entered the mat to fight; that was when I realized if you are in trouble, two minutes can look like two hours, but then I fought back with everything I have, at the end of the competition, I lost the competition, but I won the courage to overcome my fear for the first time.

I realized that I have to do it anyways; I can't keep running away from my problem. I went to more competitions to erase my fear, and if you ask me if I was scared. Yes, I was, but it wasn't like the way it is before; time passes, but now I can easily stand in front of many people and have speech with them. No one can ever bully me because I don't fear anything again. As we speak, I'm now a taekwondo coach, and I've gone to the international level.

Till now I still get scared because it's now to get scared, just unlike before. Right now I'm so courageous about many things; I presently have a young athlete who looks like me and gets scared a lot. I have been trying my best to eradicate his fear for him. I know how hard it can be to get rid of it and that is why I'm trying my best to make sure I help anyone that comes my way but couldn't find the courage to face their fear.

In summary, facing my dear, and I overcome it. It is one of the best things I have done for myself, I believe if I had not been able to do it back then, I might not have achieved what I have achieved today.

Everyone deals with fear, it is like an unshakable force that lives in us all. Learning taekwondo, that is a bold move. I watch things like this in movies but to actually learn it in real life, I always believe it is a sport for the toughest kind of people.
