Hello Beautiful People. I hope you all are doing great. So I have just finished washing Vincenzo, and this might be my first watch from Korean TV show. To be honest, I loved the whole experience of it. Episodes were somewhat lengthy, but it was a joyful watch.
The Plot
The plot follows Vincenzo Casano, a Korean man, who was adopted by the Italian family. He eventually becomes a consigliere (difficult word to remember) for the Mafia. After an inside conflict, he returns to South Korea. He is here for something hidden beneath the Geumga Plaza. That something is a huge amount of gold secretly stored underneath the building. But the plaza is about to be taken over by Babel Group, a richy rich one. The Group is powerful and uses every way to take over it.
At first, the show really felt like a casual one. You know the same mafia stuff. In some manner it is that way. But still it is different too. At the Plaza, he meets Hong Cha Young, a lawyer. Her personality revolves around winning than morality. While her father is the one who cares more about morality. He fights the Babel Group through legitimate means. But after his death, Miss Young and Vincenzo takes over the legality. And this whole thing mixed with comedy made the whole experience a fun watch.
It is funny to see that a criminal, Vincenzo, is fighting other criminals. But because he is good looking, and the main lead, so he is the hero.
And the tenants, who initially look like comic stuff, slowly become part of Vincenzo's little army. They were real laughter.
The Characters
Vincenzo is played by Joong ki. He is a hero, so the centre of everything. He carries the character with that strange calm and elegant attitude. His personality is so charming, he can stand in a room without saying anything, and still steals the show. The beautiful thing about his character is that he does not become a good person in just one episode. It takes time for him. Otherwise, intially, he is violent and ruthless. And he also thinks of himself as anti-hero. Furthermore, the lighter thing. I am a big fan of that.
Young character is played by Jeon Yeo Been. She also has her own sort of transformation. And she is really pretty. At first, the pretty lady is selfish, loud and dramatic. But after some time, she becomes like her father. But if I say this right, her intial character was fun for me. I mean comedic.
And together both of these characters are like made for each other.
Themes
Justice and morality is the big one in this. Just shown through some humor and goofy way. Through their character the real human is also in there. Vincenzo is a criminal, so does the Babel Group. And they are well suited. So the concept here is not just one man or group but the whole system. The show indirectly states that this whole system is corrupt. But there are good people as well. They maybe bad, but there is still goodness in them.
Another theme is wealth and power. Both sides, hero and villain, express this thing. But the Group is more powerful. But the hero knows his way to defeat, and he did.
Finally, the theme of family. The tenants are at first totally strangers. But as the show progress, they all act as one family. Caring for each other, helping main lead to win. There interest is also there, because otherwise they will just lose everything.
In the end, the main reason I like this show is it being a comedic court style. It is not just a non fiction type. It does get serious at points, but it never let the audience get bored.
My first try with the Korean watch, and it was worth it.
