The best garment is the essence of what we leave behind in others.

Hello friends of Empowertalent, I hope you are doing very well! I have had long days with my studies and haven't been very present on Hive. But it seems like a great way to return to what I love—which is writing—by sharing once again in the community's initiative.
There are times when we meet people who look very simple, whether in their way of dressing or even in their personality. These people might seem to place little value on wearing branded or expensive items. But life surprises us, and it turns out that these people are extremely intelligent, kind, and have very clear values. Although it might seem that these traits belong to someone without money, we can end up being surprised to find that they actually do have money—and even more than that—but money does not define them as people.
On the other hand, there are people who come from low-income backgrounds or who were not born into inherited family wealth, and later, through hard work and perhaps other actions, manage to acquire money. However, they want this to be noticeable to others; they seek external validation that measures their worth as human beings based on the money they obtain. Neither of these two cases should be taken literally, but it happens more often than it seems.
Coming from a lower-middle-class family, I think I never felt the need to prove that I had more than others through objects or clothes. There is nothing wrong with treating ourselves or wearing something truly nice, but not everything that is nice is expensive, nor is everything cheap meant to be thrown away. I believe money can cause people to change, but only if they already have a mindset where gaining money is synonymous with gaining power and using it as a way of life.
I have been on both sides: I have had a lot and I have had very little, but I have never felt that money changes my way of seeing the world and people. I don't know if it's my upbringing, mindset, or personality, but I don't treat people based on their social or economic status. I treat everyone equally because, in the end, we are all human beings who came here to live as the best version of ourselves and to leave the world a little better for the people around us.

The quality that best defines me is being someone who appreciates what is close, values effort, and cherishes the small details. I like being able to enjoy the moments that life gives me, which will surely end at some point. That is why I try to live with a broader mindset and view situations by asking myself if I need to improve something in myself, if I can help others, and if what I leave in others is what I would like them to remember about me whenever my name comes up.
