Reaching One Hundred Years: Learnings and Life Lessons.
Hello Empowertalent friends, I hope you are doing very well. Recently, in one of my posts, I was talking about time and how, in one way or another, we waste many moments and opportunities that never return. But rather than seeing it as a mistake, I think we should value how much we have learned, regardless of our age. Because it's not about numbers, but about the experiences that shape us into who we want to be.
One hundred years seems like a long time when we look at it from the perspective of a human lifespan, but there are things we don't manage to learn even in a hundred years, and I believe we would need many more to reach a point where we feel satisfied with the path we've walked. Today's quality of life doesn't always allow people to reach this age, but some have the rare opportunity to achieve it. And I feel that these people are the most knowledgeable when it comes to experience.
I have always thought that waking up every day is a blessing; we never know when we won't be here anymore, and being able to do the things that make us feel fulfilled is one of the greatest fortunes a human being can have. But sometimes, we fail to give the proper importance to what we are living, let alone to how fast time passes. To be honest, I don't think I'll make it to one hundred; I don't know how long I will be on this earth, but I know I don't want to live too long and end up in a vulnerable state where I can't take care of myself. I fear that more than death itself, which is inevitable.
If I were guaranteed to live a hundred times the things that can teach me to find my path in the world, I think I would be willing to walk it, as long as I am surrounded by the people I love and those who have been important to me. A life with purpose is what gives meaning to each passing year; if we have something to live for and it brings us well-being, that is more than enough to keep going here, holding onto hope and the faith that anything is possible.
That is why I see my existence as something God and the universe gave me to fulfill a mission. Perhaps I don't have an extraordinary story, but I know I can come to understand people who have been through difficult times. Perhaps for that reason, I chose a career where I have to give my all, recognize human beings as something more than a scientific study object —as a fundamental part of society— and also give importance to what each person can teach from their different perspectives of the world.
One hundred years is a lot when we are starting something, but after traveling and living through different experiences, it is more than enough time for someone who has given their all for themselves and hasn't let their own fears and beliefs destroy them. Passing through this earthly plane and being able to leave with a clear conscience and the certainty of having done everything necessary to do things right, I think, is enough to recognize that life was lived in the best possible way and with an attitude that always triumphs over life's difficulties.
