The more expensive and advanced smartphones become, the bigger the gamble when dealing with local repair markets. A couple of days ago, my friend Arslan went through an experience that was nothing short of a headache.

Arslan owns a flagship Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, and out of nowhere, the display went completely blank white. With a high end device like that, you can't just leave it sitting around. To get it sorted, we headed to a well known mobile repair lab at Hall Road, Lahore. We ended up shelling out a massive 57,000 PKR to get a new display panel installed. It was a steep bill, but the relief of having a functional flagship phone made it feel worth it or so we thought.
That relief lasted exactly four days. Barely four days after the replacement, two vertical lines suddenly popped up across the display. Seeing that after dropping 57k was infuriating. Paying top dollar only to face screen defects within days felt like a total rip-off.
We immediately went back to Hall Road to confront the guy at the repair lab. Hall Road was its usual self packed with suffocating crowds, honking bikes, and complete chaos. When we reached the shop, the technician wasn't even there; he was running late. Instead of waiting around doing nothing, we decided to check with two other reputable repair shops nearby to see if the lines could actually be fixed. Both technicians took one look at the phone and gave the exact same verdict: there is currently zero solution or laser fix in the market for display lines on the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Shortly after, the original lab technician finally showed up. We handed him the device, and without missing a beat or showing any accountability, he gave the same canned excuse: "Bhai, there's no solution in the market yet for panel lines on the 9 Pro XL." In short: 57,000 PKR down the drain, a ruined panel in four days, and zero responsibility taken.
We wasted almost two full hours navigating through the unbearable crowd, going from shop to shop, only to end up with nothing but a financial hit and mental fatigue.
Getting panels or hardware replaced for premium flagship devices in the local market is a massive gamble. No one offers a genuine warranty, and the moment something fails, every technician just throws their hands in the air. If you're using a Pixel or any high-end smartphone, think twice before replacing parts locally otherwise, you're looking at wasted cash and endless trips through Hall Road.

ارسلان کے پاس فلیگ شپ موبائل گوگل پکسل 9 پرو ایکس ایل ہے، جس کا پینل اچانک مکمل طور پر وائٹ ہو گیا۔ ظاہر ہے اتنا مہنگا ہینڈ سیٹ ہو تو بندہ رسک نہیں لیتا۔ اس کے حل کے لیے لاہور ہال روڈ کی ایک جانی پہچانی موبائل ریپئرنگ لیب کا رخ کیا گیا اور پورے 57,000 روپے دے کر نیا پینل لگوایا۔ رقم بہت بھاری تھی، لیکن تسلی یہ تھی کہ چلو فلیگ شپ ڈیوائس دوبارہ چلنے کے قابل ہو گئی۔
مگر یہ سکون صرف چار دن کا مہمان نکلا۔ پینل تبدیل کروائے ابھی بمشکل چار دن ہی ہوئے تھے کہ اسکرین پر اچانک دو لکیریں ابھر آئیں۔ 57 ہزار روپے لگانے کے بعد یہ حال دیکھ کر شدید غصہ اور مایوسی ہوئی، کیونکہ اتنی بڑی رقم خرچ کرنے کے بعد ایسی خرابی سیدھا سیدھا دھوکہ لگتی ہے۔
ہم فوراً ہال روڈ روانہ ہوئے تاکہ اسی لیب والے کو جا کر دکھائیں جس نے پینل لگایا تھا۔ ہال روڈ پر وہی معمول کا شدید رش، دھکم پیل اور حبس زدہ ماحول۔ لیب پر پہنچے تو پتا چلا کہ موصوف خود غائب ہیں اور لیٹ آئیں گے۔ ہم نے انتظار میں وقت برباد کرنے کے بجائے مارکیٹ کی دو مزید بڑی اور مشہور شاپس کا رخ کیا تاکہ مسئلے کی اصل حقیقت جان سکیں۔ دونوں کاریگروں نے فون دیکھ کر صاف کہہ دیا کہ مارکیٹ میں فی الحال پکسل 9 پرو ایکس ایل کی پینل لائنز کا سرے سے کوئی حل موجود ہی نہیں ہے۔
اتنی دیر میں وہ لیب والا بھی پہنچ گیا۔ جب اسے فون تھمایا تو اس نے بغیر کسی شرمندگی کے وہی رٹا رٹایا جواب دہرایا: "بھائی، اس ماڈل کی اسکرین لائنز کا مارکیٹ میں ابھی تک کوئی سلوشن نہیں آیا۔" یعنی 57 ہزار روپے جیب سے نکل گئے، چار دن میں پینل فارغ ہو گیا، اور آگے سے جواب یہ کہ مارکیٹ بے بس ہے۔
اس شدید ہجوم، شور اور گرمی میں دکانوں کے چکر کاٹتے ہوئے ہمارے پورے دو گھنٹے ضائع ہو گئے۔ نتیجہ وہی صفر: بھاری مالی نقصان اور سر درد۔
لوکل مارکیٹ سے مہنگے فونز کے پینل یا پارٹس تبدیل کرواتے وقت کوئی بھی وارنٹی کی پکی ضمانت نہیں دیتا، اور جب نقصان ہوتا ہے تو سب ہاتھ کھڑے کر دیتے ہیں۔ اگر آپ بھی پکسل یا کوئی مہنگا فون استعمال کر رہے ہیں تو ایسی ریپئرنگ کرواتے وقت سو بار سوچ لیں، ورنہ ہال روڈ کے چکر اور پیسوں کی بربادی مقدر بن سکتی ہے۔
