I haven't been in Tbilisi in over a year now. But returning to this place that I once felt I was escaping has me feeling rather unexpected things. It appears I have deeply missed the city despite all of its (many) flaws. Perhaps coming here but not living here is met with more peace. Perhaps it's the weather. Perhaps it's the desperate need for a trip somewhere. Or maybe, it could be that the city and me have since changed in that time. It certainly feels different. It feels more lively. Georgians feel much the same, but beautiful old streets feel a little more at peace and with colour.
The historic buildings are more beautiful than I remember. Maybe it is the time of year where it's easier to walk around. I remember the smell of the city which instantly hit me, the feeling it has. The many beautiful pines and birches that are around. It is something I believe the city does better than Yerevan. It's far more green, albeit a bit more dense with less courtyards unless you exit into the more soviet era districts. It feels more like a real city in comparison. I had the urge to run around like I used to. Though physically I don't feel I can do it right now. Still a bit too limited in my mobility from months of stress that had me in a state of constant panic attacks.
Though being here, I feel a bit better. A bit more curious again to roam and shoot things on the film camera. This is something I've also deeply missed recently, having been either stuck inside form stress or the heat which was too overwhelming to be outside in back in Yerevan. I look forward to seeing how the film pictures turn out though. I currently have a roll of Kodak Vision2 250D in the camera, a cinema film that has since been expired and no longer in production. Hopefully that roll is okay! On top of that I picked up a roll of Kodak Gold 200. Looking forward to the sunny light with it!
On the day of arrival though, it rained. A long, much needed rain that I definitely needed to experience. Colder air and a dampness. I loved that. It has been months since the last rain in yerevan.
Anyway, here's a little of Tbilisi! Hopefully soon the next images will come from the 28mm lens on my Canon AE-1 with that aforementioned film stock.
