The Tale of Lisa

Few things have given Lisa's life more meaning than having her daughter, Yuni. Yuni was the one who truly changed everything for the better and gave her the strength to keep going despite everything. Before having her, her life was adrift, her compass was broken, so to speak. Back then, Lisa was an enthusiastic young woman eager to conquer the world and make it in music. She had recently graduated as a singer. But before she could even begin her musical career, she met Mike.

He was a very handsome man and seemed very determined in everything he did. She let her heart guide her and, without thinking things through, married him. For love, she gave up everything: her musical studies, her life as a singer. When they married, he took her to his hometown, a place with no musical opportunities and no way to prosper professionally. At that time, she didn't care about having given up so much for him, because, as they say, love conquers all. But after a few months of marriage, he left her for another woman as soon as he found out she was pregnant, and it's known that he later died of a rum overdose.

Life became hard from that moment on. Ella was far from her family, having moved far away with him. And that was the least of her problems; she didn't have a penny to return to her hometown. Out of personal pride, she didn't want to go back because she thought they would see her as a failure who had given up everything for a worthless ghost. Therefore, she decided to accept her circumstances and live there with what she had. She was only less than a month pregnant, so she had to gather resources to provide a life for her unborn daughter.

Since the only thing she knew how to do well was sing, she had to find a job as a singer. And since there was no way to advance professionally there, she decided to work as a singer, but in a low-level capacity. She got several gigs in bars around town, entertaining the crowds with her music. She sang in one bar in the morning, another in the afternoon, and the last one at night. This was very hard because it meant she had to sing all day long. She ended each day exhausted, but for the sake of her unborn daughter, she had to do it. Often, the bars where she worked closed, leaving her with nowhere to sing to earn money. Since she couldn't do heavy work because she was pregnant, she had to sing on the street, hoping someone would give her something.

One way or another, she always managed to earn a little something for each day. The nine months of her pregnancy passed, and she finally had her beautiful daughter, Yuni. It was a great joy for her, the reward for her hard work. Thanks to having worked enough, she had saved for the birth and had no financial worries. As time went on, her daughter wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a singer too. But in the city where they lived, there was no way to study music, and Lisa knew she had to get her out of there. She got her a scholarship to a boarding school far away. They would have to separate, but it would be worth it.

When Yuni left, the saddest part of Lisa's life began. Without her daughter at home, she was completely lost. She didn't know what motivated her to go on anymore. She had no established career in music; she was just scraping by. She had lost her best years. This, coupled with the loss of her daughter to study far away, plunged her into a deep depression. She began to follow in her husband's footsteps, drinking rum in large quantities. It was as if he, from beyond the grave, wanted to take her with him. Yuni knew nothing of this from afar. When she returned years later, after graduating, she found a very different mother, unrecognizable, adrift. Seeing this, she reacted quickly. The first thing he did was get her out of there; they couldn't live in that place anymore.

Once she got her out of there, she took her to a specialized clinic to help her overcome her addictions. With those problems resolved, they began to sing together, using their individual skills. Yuni motivated her to leave behind that nomadic life on the streets and pursue her initial dream. They started singing together, and whenever Lisa wanted to give up, her daughter encouraged her to keep going. Over time, they began creating songs, albums, and concerts. Little by little, Lisa emerged from the darkness she had fallen into over the years. She became a successful singer alongside her daughter, but without her, she would still be stuck in that place with no opportunities. Luckily, Yuni was there to pull her out. Now, they just want to be together forever and sing, sing, and sing—there's no better life.
