I just watched this movie Idiots (2026), and I think it is actually a great movie!
I was a little deceived, though, I'm a big rap fan and when I heard Killer Mike and Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr. was in the movie I was pumped for it.
It turned out Killer Mike had only one scene in the movie, so all I had was Ice Cube Jr. for the rest of the movie. But it turned out good, still. And Peter Dinklage also featured, that was a big and pleasant surprise because I did not know he was in until he pooped on the scene.
Great Comedy
This movie was funny as hell! It had a great kind of humour. What I loved the most about the humour here was how the scenes and situations were not presented like they were trying to make you laugh. Characters didn't try to make faces or make clear setups that makes you feel or see that they're trying to make you laugh.
The entire movie was just like they were showing you a story mainly because it is an interesting story and the fact that it is rib cracking comedy was just a coincidence.
And it was really rib cracking comedy! The kind of situations and twists in this movie was just golden! You'd laugh your ass out with this one. Ice Cube Jr. did a great job, and so did the supporting actor Dave Franco. And remember I said Peter Dinklage aced it too?
Plot Flaw, Though.
There was a plot flaw that kinda ruined this movie, though. It kinda broke my heart to see it because everything was going so good and this movie was almost perfect.
Spoiler Alert!
The point where the two main characters were transporting Sheridan, after they had just found him hiding in a hotel with crazy fans after he escaped from them at first.
These two guys were in a lot of trouble for losing him. The company was going to face a lot of consequences to their reputation. Not to mention Sheridan had tricked them, drugged them, robbed a stripper one of them invited, and there was a deadline for finding him and transporting him to the destination.
After all the trouble they went through to find him, they had him in the car and were in a hurry to take him to the destination to have this whole crazy episode over with. During that they even found out on he had posted on social media saying he was kidnapped by perverts, he gave the exact location and road they were driving through, including the exact car and registration numbers.
The two transporters know how famous and popular he was on social media. They saw how crazy his fans are about him, so once they saw he posted all that they should have been scared and in a hurry to leave that road and deliver him to the destination. Yet they stopped to help an old man fix his tyre. That doesn't make any sense at all!
Yes even in real life people do things that don't make sense, but in stories you have to be very careful with your characters doing things that make absolutely no sense, because it's just not convinced, and it is clearly a cheap way to make something interesting happen. By simply making your character do something that makes no sense at all.
A classier and better way to make something interesting happen is simply to make there to be a good reason. This movie failed with this move.
Conclusion
But other than that, it was a great movie. If you don't apply too much logic to stories you might miss seeing how there is this one flaw and you'll still finish the movie feeling really great about.
If you see the flaw, though, it is still really great. They really nailed that type of humour where it seems like the funny things are funny by coincidence and not because the movie is overly trying to make you laugh.
